Zaitsev would need to go the other way. I dont believe Doughty would be a Leaf in any of the next 8yrs of that albatros contract

That's pretty close in value. LA may want Kapanen or Johnsson instead of Liljegren.

4 separate $10 million+ players would be something else though.

personally what looks like it would make sense for LA, is getting Mitch Marner in a deal for Drew Doughty.

Its pretty much the only move that would make sense financially too. They wouldn't be able to pay Matthews, Marner, Doughty and Tavares 11 mill minimum each

I would rather see Zaitsev go too, Muzzin just seems like the easier of the 2 to move with 1 year left.

Marner. Maybe Marner and a cap dump. Marner and Zaitsev for Doughty. Seems fair to me and Toronto would be a much better team

Marner is making 10 Million (overpayment in my book, but)

Mitch is a 26 Goal Scoring guy who had some boosted stats with Tavares, he might have his stats boosted again with Kopitar.

I think hes more known for his speed and passing than goal scoring. If Tavares wasn't there to finish them, hed have way less points too tho

Half the reason I would rather keep Parayko than get anyone on the Maple Leafs.

Makes horrible cap sense for the Leafs in the future. We is it that the last place Kings and their defence of Martinez, Doughty, Quick and the former Muzzin get so much love?

Explain how this effects the leafs future cap space, with Marleaus contract coming off the books, and the cap going up annually they'd still have 6-9M in space to sign RFAs the following season. Are you saying that Doughty is no longer a top RHD in the league?

Uh Doughty is making 11 Million this upcoming year.....and they would have Marner, Matthews, Tavares all on the cap...

Neat stat: The highest paid player left in the playoffs is 8m. It is very hard to win with a double digit contracts, nevermind multiple. Blackhawks are the only team to do it and that is really only because they had Keith, Seabrook & Hossa on such good deals (at the time). Once Kopitar jumped into double digits the kings went downhill.

Technically, the Kane and Toews $10.5 deals didn't kick in until July 1, 2015 after the last of the three cups, so no one has done it.

yes, thank you ... I'm aware of that. But how does it effect them longterm? Are they going out and signing ANOTHER 1st line center or 1st line D in the future? Can they not fill out a roster with the remainding 40M? I mean ... I just filled one out.

they have to re-sign Marner. You have to remember Matthews is on his ELC right now an 11 Million dollar upgrade on his contract another 10 Million dollar upgrade on Marner's with tavares's contract and multiple holes they need to fill, an 11 Million dollar contract with only giving up a 7 Million dollar contract is not going to be cap helping. its cap restrictive if not illegal cap wise.

At this point I feel like you just looked at the trade and didn't look at my roster, this is for the 19-20 season, where AMs contract has kicked in, and Marner re-signed.

Lol ... yeah I'm new, and you still can't provide me with 2 UFAs in their prime the leafs can sign at 5.5M. Yeah ... I see 906 posts didn't really make you any smarter.

considering Kapanen doesn't sign for 3 Million, Carolina won't want Kadri because Kadri has a bad history of suspension,

I'm sure that Doughty and his 11m X 7 would be a detriment to future RFAs signings. Heck Marleau and his 6.25m for one year is bad enough. And yes Doughty is no longer a the top RHD in the league. He is not deserving of being paid the 3rd highest player in the league now and for next years. Sorry it's not 2015. That contracts runs from 2019 to 2027.

Pittsburg has enough cap issues without taking on a 4m Muzzin without taking any money back. If Wallmark is worth of 3C duties with the Leafs, why does Carolina do that deal? So all that scrambling to get an overpaid RHD. No thanks.

That was exactlly my point....why talk sense to you if you live in your small world, where 8 x 11M 40y old RHD is the TMLs way out.......
