Description

Not sure what Islanders fans think. Leaf fans may think it's an overpay but I'm sure Islander fans would want more. Mayfield would play in our top 4 and has a great contract, Hyman can play up and down the lineup and Bracco brings playmaking ability. Let me know what you think

I'm not as high on Mayfield as some people may be. As for Human's future as a Leaf...well if he's not traded during the season, then he will be gone in off-season.
I think he's a very important player for the Leafs but he will soon be a cap causality. Dubas is going to have to find a way to add a UFA D and probably run with kids on the 3rd pairing.

When you take these into consideration, then more just Hyman being traded is a real possibility.

I agree with what you're saying, I'm just not sure we can afford to outbid other teams next off-season to land a top 4 D (though it would be nice). I think a trade is inevitable at some point and figured Hyman would be the most expandable. I don't think this deal happens or anything but it would give us a little more wiggle room and a top 4 rhd on a team-friendly deal which would at least alleviate some of the pressure of needing to get a top 4 d next off-season. Just a thought

He's from London, and I can't help but believe that he would enjoy the upgrade from Ottawa to Toronto.

Dubas should have offered him at least the Nick Jensen deal at the beginning of last year.
