Marner is paying more then double the income tax in Ontario vs Colorado. They need to fix this in the new CBA if they insist on keeping a hard cap.

The tax is higher, but he's getting paid in USD while buying in CAD (10 mil US is like 14 mil in CAD), that conversion rate is about the same as the tax $ he's giving up, so that should be negligible.

lol okay... and Toronto is also a much more expensive city to live in then Colorado.

This is literally a non issue in other sports. Because news flash, rich people have a grand ability to influence how much they actually pay in taxes.

The tax rate is 55% in Toronto Colorado is 41%... not double

Also marner gets 15.6 mill the day he signed, rants gets no bonus'.. marner can invest his money and turn it into way more before rantanen gets his full 9.25 mill for this year

Marner's insistence to get the contract he did has put some serious pressure on his shoulders to perform and earn his contract. I hope he has some thick skin. The kid has his work cut out for himself.

Great deal for the avs. Good for Sakic. Good for Rantenan.
