I think CGY looks at Hamonic as a long-term partner for Hanifin, and probably for a team-fair AAV of $4.5M x 4 years or so.

Kapanen + 3rd is an interesting starting point...but the Ceci piece is awkward at best. I know y'all are trying to move him and his salary out the door, I just think CGY has long-term plans (3+ years) as:

Giordano - Andersson
Hanifin - Hamonic
Valimaki - [insert depth guy here]

Ah so + translates into "+ a cap dump" here. We just got cap relief we arent about to spend it on Ceci. If we want a 2nd line winger there are just as good options without cap dumps attached

I'm not sure Flames do it with Hyman instead of Kapanen.
Would I do it? Of course!!!

Do you think Murphy > Hamonic?????

IDK, Hanifin and Andersson clicked really well when Hamonic was injured. Brodie has played far better then Hamonic for us this year. I think it's significantly more likely that we keep Brodie at this point and trade Hammer

Ceci is only for remainder of the season, in actually this trade should be viewed as Kapanen, 3rd rounder and 4.5 cap space for Hamonic

I understand why you want to trade Hyman but at this point he is important for playoff success. I'd hate to let him walk as a UFA but that's kind of the solution if you take these coming playoffs into account.

As for the trade? Calgary needs a quality C but those are not easy to get so the next best solution is to upgrade the wingers and this achieves that.

Also...I would only do this trade if Hamonic signs the extension that @Trickster mentioned in the description.

Agreed, Gio and Briodie have played very well together.
That is Flames #1 D pair.

I agree - Ceci is a UFA as well so not really locked into any long term cap issues. With Fro out we still have cap flexibility. To keep a top four of Gio -Brodie and Hanifin - Andersson AND get a potential top 6 to play with Jonny and Monu AND a 3rd. I would make that deal from a CGYy perspective.

Given the contract Barrie will command, no, not interested in a rental.

Seems like it wasnt clear enough

Barrie ( TML ) <> Hamonic (CGY), so complement for Rielly traded for Offensive D to be matched with Giordano possibly
Murphy + 3rd (CHI) <> Hyman, Ceci + 2nd

Makes sense, tho i made simulation for backing up my proposal, CGY would be in calm waters Cap wise even with him at 6 x 7,8M

Yes, however I think he will command to much. I would rather take a run at DeAngelo

I understood your idea. I think if land one D somehow without trading Hyman, that should be enough. Will the D perfect for the playoffs? No but unless you start making big changes to the roster, there won't be a perfect D.

If able to trade Johnsson or Kapanen+ for a D, that's going to have to be good enough.

Sry, but im on TML bandwagon for decades now and their mindset where Kaberle - McCabe are enough to bring parade into town isnt working.

in my books following would be sufficient to adress current stats of GA 26th......SA 28th......SCA 23th......PP 7th......PK 26th...:

Rielly - Hamonic
Muzzin - Murphy
Sandin - Liljegren

Many of you are yelling how Muzzin sucks, but pair him with someone that knows how to play D at the start of Season and he wont look tired after 40 Games, cause he wont hold three corners alone and will not be on pace of 60 Games played....

Also some backup, so Andersen wont succumb to 3.76 in Playoffs again.....

To lazy to re-write

Kerfoot is winger playing #3C by emergency need. He was 44 points as LW, now he will proly end around 30 for 3,5M, its not easy to play the most skilled position in your Line. Engvall did decent job as C with Marlies, so i would go with Johnsson - Engvall - Kapanen as 3rd Line. 4th Line is always optional and TML have plenty of names to fill those three places.

My list of expendables goes :

1) Barrie ( can be swaped for some defensive D of team with surplus of those, hoping for CGY & Hamonic or CBJ & Savard )
2) Ceci ( in pack with some of better names from this list )
3) Kerfoot ( 3rd line C can be like 1,5M Eriksson-Ek for 25 Points per Season that Kerfoot will get playing in his new role as C )
4) Hyman ( you can land something good still this year cause next year as a rental he'll land less,, will walk away or demand 4M+ that TML dont have )
5) Timashov
6) Holl
7) and the last that will piss 95% of fan base again......Dermott ( Sandin & Liljegren coming for 3rd Pair with hopefully Holl as scratch if he wont demand more then 2 x 1,2M )

Packages of above 6 + both 2nds would prolly land one or two Top Ds, #3C and a backup......

I should clarify, the title said Kapanen +, so i was originally making a joke about the + being Ceci. I definitely do think Kapanen would be a fit in CGY but I think he was more of a fit when Tkachuk - Backlund - xxx was the 2nd line. Not as much now. Flames are in no way in need of PK options, that's why Frolik was expendable (especially with Rieder joining the team this summer). Kapanen is that PK option guy. Has great speed, is young and as a decent 2-way game. He is also the RHS we are looking for However I don't know if he is entirely what this team wants.

He has, so has Dermott but keeping them on 2nd Pair, 3rd being Sandin - Liljegren will take you exactly where Im saying TML Office is failing for 30 years and more.....Cap wise you will play Rielly - Someone on 1st Pair which is what Kaberle - McCabe reference is ment to be, first round exits for next 52 years....

Harmonic doesn't really turn my crank, if you know what i mean. At least as a trade target forthe leafs. Im a Flames fan too btw and im not sure i like it from there perspective either. The Flames dont exactly have a surplus of RHD either and i dont think would want to get rid of Hamonic. If this trade happened i wouldn't be upset or anything, i think the value makes sense. I think Hamonic would get more money/term on his next deal though.

If i recall correctly he wanted to be on the west coast of canada when he asked for his trade from the islanders as well. He probably still prefers that for family reasons(whatever they may be).

I think there would be teams around the league who look at Kapanen and his potential along with his utility and if sweetened with either Bracco or picks or other prospects would be willing to part with a younger RHD either with term or an expiring RFA status.

My thoughts exactly. Hammer has not been himself this year. I’m not sure I like this trade for the leafs. Especially with their style of play. If hamonic is re signed then J like it as I’m sure he will bounce back.

Hamonic would be great but I just don't see the Flames as a natural trade partner for the leafs. They could get a top-six winger from a rebuilding team without giving up a key part of their defense. Josh Manson's name was tossed around a lot a year ago or so when Nylander was holding out and the consensus seemed to be that the Ducks had zero interest in trading him, even in a package for a player of Nylander's caliber. I don't think that is the case anymore and I wonder if Dubas might try and circle back about his availability and if a package of Kapanen/johnsson + bracco/timashov would be enough for Anaheim to pull the trigger now. His game has fallen off a bit of a cliff but he's still fairly young, is surrounded with mediocrity in anaheim, and would be a better long-term fit than hamonic.

Manson has not been good, just because he is the best RHD the Ducks doesnt mean he is top shelf.

He was about 2 seasons ago, or even last season.

The same trade with Ducks makes less sense as they need to rebuild.
