Trade Marner In The Off-Season

Created by: AnalyticsGeek
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 3, 2020
Published: Feb. 3, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Honestly, I felt Mitch Marner had a pretty good game overall today. He was very noticeable in the offensive zone and had some good chances, but all of that will unfortunately be overshadowed for the fact that he took a bad penalty and turned the puck over that led to the empty-net goal. From what I've seen on social media after the game, there are many Leaf fans who want Marner gone through trade or waivers. I'm not happy to see Marner always get so much hate, but in Pittsburgh, Evgeni Malkin gets the same treatment so it isn't necessarily surprising. Can't wait for the media to be all over him again tomorrow.

Don’t worry! They can have Jack Johnson?

Pittsburgh accepts and throws in rights to Shultz.
Trade is lopsided for PIT IMO.

Well you should check Twitter. Pretty much every Leaf fan wants him traded so that they can make room for a defenseman. Leaf analysts Ian Tulloch and Stephen Burtch don’t believe he is even an NHL player.

Why do they need a defenseman when they can get the best available in Pietrangelo for free?

Leafs don’t need Schultz when they have Holl, Pietrangelo & Liljegren.

I think as a Penguins fan that you are just trying to stir up Leaf Nation after the Leafs blew the game in the 3rd period. You need to get real and understand that Marner is a franchise player who has been a Leaf fan his entire life and one day will be the captain of the team. I think you should be more concerned with your Penguins team than the Leafs and not waste everyone's time posting illrevant gossip comments.

Hockey is an emotional and heated game to watch but the reality of the situation was this was just one game in a long season and no one will care about this game next week.

Well you are right but I don’t think Leaf fans and media will ever accept Mitch Marner on the team. They don’t see anything positive about the things he does and will run him out of town like they did with Phil Kessel. As a Pens fan, my concern is that the team needs to get a top winger, which Marner is.

This makes no sense for the Leafs. How can you say that you do not think that Leaf fans and media will ever accept Mitch Marner on the team when he is on a pace for 100 points this year if he was not injuredd. Also, you do realize he led the team is points in his second and third seasons in the NHL and would have lead the team in points in his first year if he was not injured. Marner is an assistant captain and one of the most popular players on the team and with the fan base so your statements are total nonsense from a jealous Penguin fan.

Yes you’re right Marner would lead the team in points every season if he was healthy, but fans and media still do not like him. Honestly his time in Toronto was already over during the whole contract conflict.
