You just know he'll get 10+ million from the Leafs when his contract is up.
I mean ... he's certainly playing like it:
Nick Abruzzese | TOR | 124th Overall (2019)

Alex Turcotte | LAK | 5th Overall (2019)
2019-20 Stats = NCAA (Rookie)

Cole Caufield | MTL | 15th Overall (2019)

It's also fair (and obvious) to note that:
Kapanen ($3,200,000 x 3 years)
Johnsson ($3,400,000 x 4 years)
Kerfoot ($3,500,000 x 4 years)
Engvall ($1,200,000 x 2 years)
Muzzin ($5,600,000 x 4 years)
Have all signed extremely fair (some below market value) extensions since the AM + MM extensions.
And that all the star forwards who signed bridge deals are going to get paid when they expire (Tkachuk, Laine, Boeser, Point, McAvoy, etc).
If next years cap is in the middle of NHL estimates ($86,000,000) than we can expect much larger increases via Seattle + the new US TV deal.
Which will also give the Leafs tons of cap-space in the last 2-3 years of the Matthews, Marner and Nylander's contracts (during their prime).
