no team would because the players you are targeting are/will get payed half of what Marner is making, have the same on ice value as him and the remaining cap can be used to sign someone else, making the value a loss for the team acquiring Marner

I'm just going to preface this by saying I don't think there's any way a Marner trade actually happens, but I'm going to view these trades as if I was the other GM
CBJ-I'd do this in a heartbeat, I think Jones is incredibl overrated, and is not particularly close to a top 10 RD
FLA-Ekblad is good, but he's only recently had some really good years, I'd at least consider it, but in the end reject bc they have to cut costs, and Marner's contract is expensive (though not really a bad one)
NYI-Apparently Pulock is good (I always thought he was extremely overrated by Isles fans, honestly probably not anymore tbh) and I'm a huge Beauv fan, this one is gonna have to be a pass from me
NSH-Ellis was my Norris pick this year post Dougie injury. No even without Fabbro
NTY-Fox should win the calder this year and is already posting absurd numbers and has 2 more years on his ELC and is criminally underrated as of now, likely will be signed to a steal of an extension as well, plus NYR has like no cap space next year, no
STL-Parayko is an interesting one, I'd be willing to do it if either their contracts were similar or Marner played a stereotypical more valuable position (C)
VGK-I personally don't, but I can see a very good argument for Theodore deserving the Norris this year. See Ellis

I'd rather have my defense. Blues have enough wingers as it is I know Toronto needs defense, but yeah Blues say never.

I agree Columbus can’t afford this. If we move Jones and Savard would walk due to cap issues that leaves Peeke as the number 1 RHD... that’s not going to work as he will be a sold top 4 d, he isn’t going to be a consistent top pair guy.

read explanation. I'm not saying teams would do this, but I'm saying I wouldn't move Marner for much less

I agree for the most part. Not saying other teams would accept, just saying I don't think Marner is moved for anything short of this. Otherwise you'd be better off keeping him

also if Marner was a center most of these trades wouldn't be done from Toronto's side. 94 point 22 year old center wouldn't go for most any of this

You’d have to add to that deal Jones is a stud he will win a norris at some point in his career.

You should have written something under team explanation so there wouldn't be any confusion... oh wait

I agree that they might not accept, but the general premise of a Marner deal that, FROM TORONTO'S PERSPECTIVE, would be worth it, would have to include jones.

Marner? Yes please!

Marner at $11MM and almost 15% of the teams annual cap? Meh.
