Columbus declines pretty easily. Nylander is good but he’s not worth a top 15 pick, top forward prospect and Anderson. That’s too much for Columbus to give up for him. Especially since Foudy is looking NHL ready next season and could easily be in the same role as Nylander would play in Columbus, 2nd line center....

I think CBJ would do it minus the 1st since Anderson is probably gone anyways and Nylander > Foudy

One problem.... where’s the extra 6 mil in cap room for Nylander come from? Columbus still needs to sign PLD and he’s probably going to get 7+ and Gavrikov is probably 2+ at this point.

move someone else then. getting nylander for a pending RFA who scored 1 goal and a prospect is a steal.

How does Columbus reject. I am pretty sure the pick is gonna be around 15-25

Not if that prospect ends up playing the same role. Nylander would be 2nd like center, Foudy could be 2nd line center by the end of next season. If it were Marchenko I’d say yes, but not Foudy.

Easy, Foudy and Nylander will play the same role by the end of the season. And Columbus needs to refill some of the prospects we lost. We have a very shallow prospect pool after last trade deadline and have only picked In the 1st round 3 times in in the last 5 years... Werenski, and Foudy being 2 of those picks and PLD being the 3rd.

Just because they play the same role doesn't mean one wouldn't be better than the other.

You’re right.. it doesn’t. But 925k is a heck of a lot cheaper then almost 7 mil. As I said if it were Marchenko vs Foudy I’d make the trade as Columbus would also have to buyout Wennberg and trade someone like Nyquist to fit Nylander in. The other problem is Columbus has made 3 first round selections in the last 5 years. Werenski, PLD and Foudy. We don’t have a great prospect pool right now now. We need to be keeping the picks.

I admit I'm tempted even with it being Foudy. We've also got Texier who could be playing C, after all. And why trade Nyquist when we could move Murray instead? I don't like the loss of prospects either, but Nylander is on a surprisingly decent deal. Buying out Wennberg is kind of a nonissue IMO.

Do I like giving up two of our best futures? Not particularly. But we're getting a good young player on a good deal, and we've already got one of the youngest teams in the league so we're not in immediate danger of aging out.

I really do appreciate all the passionate responses from all of you even with hockey on temporary hiatus, even if you didn't agree with my moves smile And @Viqsi, thank you for pushing my Leafs-Blue Jackets deal onward and upward.
