TRADING KANE-TOEWS TO START THE REBUILD

Created by: meno9305
Team: 2021-22 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: May 17, 2020
Published: May 17, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I know they'll probably not trade kaner et toews in the next 2 seasons, because their contracts will be over, but if they dont plan to resign them, might as well have something in return

I know the cap space is unreal, but they'll be signing free agent and all

If Chicago was willing to eat 4mil, I would think WPG would be all over Toews.

Can't see toews waiving his nmc for any reason. Not sure about kane but the hawks would never trade him unless someone pays a stupid amount which this is not.

Sabres fan here

Not bad. Especially if u look at it in a vacuum.
BUT
This trade doesn’t make the Sabres a Cup Contender
And while it would probably be enough to put us in the playoffs,
we’d still be getting beat by Boston or Tampa in round1

And we’d have no 2C still,
while trading away our best chance at that solution (Cozens)

I gotta think that Cozens & our 1st this year are pretty much unreadable assets, even for Kane
But i bet the Sabres would love to get him at that Cap#

Maybe sub in Mittelstadt?
I know we won’t “sell low” on him, but he also hasn’t come along as quickly as we’d have liked, so it’s fair to say he wouldn’t have as much trade value as Cozens

So what if we changed that 2022 2nd to a 2023 1st?
Then you’d be getting:
Mitts, two 1st round picks, and Asplund
U could even have Tage Thompson instead of Asplund if u want (more offensive upside), or we have a bunch of good looking defensive prospects as well who could be swapped in

This would be my thoughts if i was the Sabres GM anyways

I would trade our 2021 1st, Roslovic, Gustafsson and Niku for Toews at 6.5M

And the Hawks would decline that offer. Cozens is the main piece coming back. If you remove that piece the trade falls apart

He was not cleared of anything. I dont think you know how the legal system works.

Also, him never using his house is news to the staff at Wannakah Country Club.

I hear ya
Just doesn’t make sense for Buffalo to do that deal for Kane considering where we are at in our rebuild
He doesn’t put us at the top of the standings
Be better off moving him to a team closer to being a Cup Contender

Instead of paying both and nmc, they should have kept one and traded one, Chicago loves there statues, neither going anywhere.

I agree this would be a bad move for buffalo. There aren't any contenders able to take on that kind of cap hit and if the hawks retain they're gonna want even more of a boatload in return.

Send Johnny home to Winnipeg , the only players off limits are scheifele, Jmo, Laine, Ehlers. The rest I would part ways with

no, neigther would. The Kane waiving to buffalo thing is just made up by fans. Pretty sure he's pretty much cut off ties with that area

Not a “contender”
Gotta find someone who thinks they’re on the verge of Contending.....

Oilers? Isles? Philly?

I would rather pay Toes and Kane 21 mil collectively to play for us than pay them 8.5 mil to play for other teams. Neither will be moved, but if they were the hawks aren't retaining 40-45%. Kane is still well over a ppg player and Toews was ppg in 18-19 and .85 per game in 19-20 while also being one of the best leaders and two way players in the game. Both are known playoff performers. Both contracts only have 3 years left. Chicago doesn't have to retain to move them and if they do then they'll just keep them. Neither player would waive anyways. Both are very outspoken at playing their whole career in Chicago.

Biggest issues is finding somewhere they will waive to. unlikey they waive no matter where the destination is
