Description

This is my guess what happens if the islanders have to match and offer sheet. The other RFA's take a pay cut which may be coming anyways from the flat cap. Leddy moved for a 2nd and swap 3rds in 2021. This I see because Leddy could be flipped next year at trade deadline. He is a great skater and a good offensive defenseman so he still has decent value. hickey flipped with a 3rd. He has 2.5M which I think would be a 3rd rounder worth compensation. I think it would be good to flip Ho Sang and Bracco. Gives isles a chance to sign a hometown guy which is always a good story.

The Kings 2nd round pick this year is #35 overall. Not gonna happen.

A fair trade would be Leddy for the CBJ 3rd round pick, but the Kings probably wouldn't do that either.

More likely Komarov + Leddy for a 2021 6th round pick. The Kings would probably go for that.

You're right. Good teams don't have the cap for him, and poor teams with cap aren't risking lottery picks on him. They can spend 11m on UFAs and keep their picks. 11m is way too much in the new cap league.

If barzal gets a massive offersheet I say islanders take the picks and just remember how they acquired barzal in the first place suddenly doesn’t seem like as big of a loss. Lol

He’ll either get a bridge deal 7-7.5 x 3 or 9.5-10 x 6+ years

Massive would have to be over 12 mill - the owners aren’t letting the face of the franchise go when they have a new arena opening in a year

I know they have a lot of cap issues so if they decide now isn’t the best time to commit that type of contract it’s tough to say it would actually be a mistake or not. In a worst case for the fans they don’t it’s not that bad of a situation. They turned Reinhart into either barzal or the compensation no matter what it should be seen as a win. That was one of the bigger fleecing jobs we have seen
