Description
Not my trade, just posting what a sabres writer(John Vogl of the Athletic) suggested the sabres do. I don't think the hawks should ever consider this nor do I think Kane would waive him NMC anyways

For the record, he listed Kane as a "blockbuster" target- Strome and Saad were the "realistic" ones. Not sure if that is better or worse.

From an outside perspective, that seems light for Kane. I'd imagine that there is a better deal out there or replace Mittelstadt with something else - another 1st or better prospect.

IMO not enough for Kane. Only way I'd trade him if I was CHI is Cozens, 8OA +

It doesnt make sense for buffalo. Reinhart has developed into a 25/70 player, absolutely no flash, but his production is there. He is 7 years younger (i think, im not looking it up) and the only real downside is i think we are gonna overpay him by a few million per on his next deal. Adding in the 8oa in whats supposed to be a very good draft, and its too much to try to win now. Mittelstadt imho is a nothing here- i wouldnt trade him because his value fell off a cliff and the best bet is hope he figures something out, but in a kane trade he adds nothing. I think historically, trading for offensive players on the wrong side of 30 is a dangerous proposition. Kane doesnt seem to be slowing down, but time catches up to everybody except jagr, and of course jagr wasnt exactly relying on lightning speed at the end. Value is fair, maybe even a little light, but this isnt a trade i would make.

Sabres grudgingly accept. Unless you mean cozens, and then we do not.

This trade would give sabres 3 years to win a cup... am I can’t be the only one thinking this would be short sighted.

No, you are 100% right. We are a one line team right now, trading for kane doesnt change that, especially if you take away a top prospect (im thinking cozens more than mittelstadt) and a top 10 pick in a good draft. We have a rookie gm, a pending cap crunch, a expansion draft, and no scouts for christs sake, is this really the time to push all your chips in on a 32 year old winger?

Yeah Toews was listed as blockbuster too. There were a bunch of them

Kane drives his own line, he doesn't need to play with eichel. But could absolutely split them up and have two dominant lines and just put them together on the PP

While Eichel-Kane would be nigh unstoppable, it wouldn't propel us into the playoffs. We need depth scoring, not just 2 players who can rack up 100+ points

I wasnt commenting on whether the teams should make the deal, just the value going both ways.

Bringing in top-end talent is sometimes about winning it all and is sometimes about just taking the correct next step as an organization. Making a move like this brings Buffalo into a different conversation around the league and could keep Eichel satisfied until some of the kids fill the gaps.

The problem is what kids are you waiting for? Cozens? Kane doesn’t drag your team to the stanley cup finals. He’s an amazing player but doesn’t fit the build.

Issue is Chicago isn’t trading him so you may have to pay more to pry him loose. In a vacuum this could be a smart move for chicago. In 3 years there team would be improved by this trade.
