Tampa trade is probably close valuewise but I don't think either team does it 1. Because I don't see Montreal wanting to give up that much when they can OS Barzal at 10 Mil x 5 years and only give up 2-1sts + 2nd + 3rd 2. I don't see Tampa wanting to move Point who is a key part of their core especially to a divisional rival

That's the most I'd want to see the Jets
give up for Petry.

Analytically speaking, that is probably the worst defense in the league right there.

Let's say the Buff trade gets done, there is no way we do the TB trade. Point is very very good but I doubt he does 85-95 with the MTL top6. I think we would be much better with KK, 2 top 10 pick in a big draft and very possibly another top 15 pick next year.

One of Rossi Perfertti Holtz Raymond + Sanderson + KK + 2021 1st >>>>>> Point. No need to jeopardize our entire future for a 1C who isn't even top 10 in the league. Danault Suzuki KK Domi and Poehling is more than enough if well surrounded, which we can't do if all those picks are gone. Not even saying we have to absorb 6M with still a whole bunch of guys to sign.

Petry is worth more than that even at the deadline.

Being a Habs fan you must know that we haven't had a true center since Damphousse. What you see as our future i see as the present while having cap space to resign Gallagher and Danault, Lekhonen and Armia. I wonder what kind of season Gallagher will have playing for the first time in his career with a number 1 center who is 24 yrs old on a very good cap hit. I like our center with Suzuki and Point for years to come...
Is Petry worth more than Ghost in a trade? They have simular stats. Risto, 25yrs old, puts up the same stats as Petry while putting out 200 hits a season.
Besides that i am a fan and want to win now.

I was thinking the same which we could accommodate, but don't have enough knowledge what type of prospect Buffalo needs.

For the 8th overall and a big cap dump, you want a top 4 d-man, a top 6 forward, and a great prospect. Do you want the keys to my car, too?

Ghost is a career 40 point player with term and a manageable contract and would like to see him play with Weber and help our dismal power play then it's win. He fell out of favour in Philly. In Risto we get a younger Petry. Risto puts up 40 point a season, he is also 6.4 225lbs and dishing out 200 plus hits a season while statistically has same block shots as Petry. Chariot and Risto would be a menacing 2nd pairing to play against.

What cap dump is Buffalo taking on? They are getting a great second line player, freeing up some cap space to take a run at Hall. I think Eichel has made it clear he wants to win now. This trade adds the center and a great prospect with 171 NHL games played. Who you getting at 8th overall that gets Eichel into the playoffs?

With what you did you won't have much cap to sign those guys and Point will want a huge raise in just 2 years. We drafted KK ask Vegas for Zuke and move Domi to center to adress the C problem. None of them are or project to be a real number one but as a committee, they should be lethal.

Look at St Louis, while Oreilly is a terrific player, he isn't a true 1C but the offense is well spreaded anyway. As a matter of fact Andre Tourigny who faced Zuke a lot in juniors compared him to Oreilly.

I think we have much more problems to adress before center and mostly have to see a lot more of KK and Suzuki before going nuts for another. That said, this is not the right way to acquire one, real contenders draft them and can benefit them for 3-5 years before they get big money. Here you're giving away a 20 year old 3rd overall pick who you didnt even see half of what he can do, not one but two top 10 pick which give you the opportunity to adress different needs with very high potential players and another first and you're not even getting a top 10 center. I'm telling you, he's not putting up 80pts with Gallagher and Tatar instead of Kucherov and Stamkos and without the insane PP Tampa have. At least if you want to sell the win now get a 1C for real you have to target someone else.

Nothing is manageable about a scratched player that makes nearly 5M a year.

Risto dishes hits because he never has the puck. Chiarot Risto would definitely be one of the worst pairing in the league, as neither can defend. I'm sure they'd get spectacular hits and take ridiculous low danger shots from the blue line too.

Ghost is a healthy scratch.
