Edmonton declines every one of those trades holy christ.

Montour becomes nothing but another anchor on the back end a la Kris Russell once Bouchard is ready for top-four minutes. The club desperately needs a cheaper or better option to give that kind of money out to. With the slew of young, capable LHD prospects the Oilers have on the way, I'd absolutely prefer to keep Larsson at a similar price-point to help mentor a guy like Broberg. Given how badly Buffalo fans want Montour gone, I really don't think his ilk is the kind of player Edmonton wants on their back-end being "the guy" to introduce names like Samorukov or Broberg to NHL hockey.

I think the Leafs also decline their deal - one year of a cost-effective Larsson doesn't really suggest downgrading on Freddy for a season. If Edmonton's sending a 50%-retained Larsson to Toronto and Kapanen isn't coming back, Edmonton doesn't make any trade with the Leafs.

Getting out from Neal isn't going to require Edmonton giving up such a high pick AND retaining salary, what the hell?? I'm more apt to keep Neal and the 2020 1st Round Pick and dump Chiasson.

God I can’t wait till neal lights it up in the playoffs and suddenly people be reminded he’s a legit weapon on the ice. Is it just me that believes Larsson is actually very important to this team. I don’t recall a lot of youth on the back end really succeeding until he was brought in. Goes beyond stat sheets with these guys.

    Yeah and since then... nothing...

He's definitely not a 5.75M player. Better than Lucic but definitely a bad contract.

2 million dollar buyout for 6 years. 12M or a 1st. I'd take the 12M while Edmonton has McDavid.

Montour is overated and giving him that contract just hampers the team
I wouldn't retain in the toronto deal
you should not retain on the neal deal
I would trade russell because he's gonna block jones from developing

If you dint retain on Neal it costs you more to move him.

It's gonna cost assets to move Russell and they will need that cap space for Yamamoto in a year anyways so they can't really spend that money.

The Larsson deal is a steal for Edmonton. If you dont retain Toronto just doesn't do the deal. There is no point for them.

russell is owed 1.5 mil in real money for next season. This could be appealing to teams that have owners who have suffered due to covid

Russell won’t cost a dime to move. You don’t pay assets to remove useful players that’s not how the league actually operates. Lol
I’d retain on neal that’s to offset the over paid factor and sell him as a useful asset at fair value to gain an asset in return for him while avoiding buyout penalty and additional term to dead cap space.
Lol the Toronto deal is just a terrible idea for Edmonton in general retaining is absolutely out of the question.

Wrong. If a player is being paid too much for what they provide then the cost assets to move out.

Neal doesn't return an asset even if you retain half.
