Probably will cost more to retain 2million. Savard alone could get a 1sr and prospect with no retained salary. AJ salary doesn’t fit his production lastYear and he’s coming off an injury. I imagine if they wait till deadline time he’ll get them way more than this.

Maybe he is basically a rental won’t cost to much

How does DeMelo return a 3rd and Savard returns a 1st and a prospect? What?

Savard is so pumped up on this site. He's just a 2nd pairing D man with above average defense and below average offense.

When was the last time a D man got traded for a 1st and a prospect?

Maybe depends on the market. Rentals cost more than this sometimes. Again depends on the market

Shatty? Trouba ? Skjei Got a 1st. Muzzlin lmfao man you need to keep up with trades. those are just from memory. Cbj is a contender it’ll cost to get a player that helps them win. Common sense tells you that

Someone will. Look at what Tampa paid for Coleman. Desperate teams will overpay. It happens all the time.

Oh can you turn down a late 2nd and a winger that’s coming off an injury AND a down year. Oh wait you’ll also retain 2million $. You know DeMelo was cheap so the entire market cheap. Andy Greene Got a 2nd round pick.

More examples of the 2020 market.
Goodrow Got a 1st
Coleman got a 1st and a high end prospect
Pageau Got a 1st 2nd and conditional 3rd
Namestnikov Got a 4th
Gustafsson Got a 3rd (less than Andy Greene)

Values were all over the place. Hate when people try to use worse case scenario to value a player they really want.

How can I turn that down? Well simply put Columbus doesn’t need another middle 6 wing. We already have those. People don’t seem to understand the fact that Columbus has 6 middle 6 wings already and no room for them in the lineup. The pick is nice, but we don’t need or really want another wing.

So... Greene got a 2nd and demelo and gustafsson got a 3rd.... what do the rest have to do with the price of tea in China?

I mean you’re trying to compare a forward who was on pace for 30 goals with Savard who’s scored 40 goals in 9 years. You’re also comparingvTDL with offseason It sure was an overpay for Coleman. I don’t think that means that every trade is horrible.

That's not true. Though I don't think the Leafs will make this deal for other various reasons, the deal that is displayed on this AGM for Savard, I would consider, overpayment as-is. Savard puts up numbers for stats that a lot of Leafs just don't do well in. Things like hits, shot blocks, etc. As you and a ton of other Leafs' fans will see upcoming in the RTP series, Savard is not an ideal fit for this group.

You listed a bunch of guys who had multiple years left on their contract and all of whom are better than Savard...

Are you really comparing 2 years Muzzin with 1 year of Savard? Muzzin is better than Savard in every single aspect of the game and is on a cheaper contract and had more term.

Do you really think 1 year of Savard is as valuable as 7 years of Trouba?

I do keep up with trade but nothing points to Savard being worth a 1st and a prospect except some confused Columbus fans.

I think DeMelo and Vatanen are better comparables.

All the guys you listed with the high values were forwards...

Leafs could take Savard for the right price but if he costs more than a 2nd and Johnson or Kerfoot there are a lot of options in free agency.

Savard isn't the only RHD in the whole world that can help the Leafs blue line.

this right here. Savard is gonna pull a late round 1st. And only if CBJ isn't in he mix.

Lmfao Trouba signed his deal in NYR. SHATTY was a UFA Muzzin had 1extra year buy NO RETAINED SALARY. Seems like you don’t follow trades. Ranger gave up a 1st and an solid NHL ready damn for him. Pionk STats speak for themselves

Yeah logically a guy you’ll use as a #1 RHD with 2million!!! retained in a flat cap era Is being overpaid for with a late 2nd round pick and a bottom 6 forward coming off injury and a terrible year. Impossible to argue that logic lol

That’s my exact point. Bc someone gm is willing to sell pennies on the dollar doesn’t mean they all will. Columbus will just keep him unless you post a ridiculous price for him. They are a playoff team why would they move a key player for something that doesn’t fill their needs?

I was being sarcastic it’s a terrible trade considering CBJ has a great chance to beat TML in the playoffs. Why would you trade a key player for ..... a lesser return. Would they trade MR for a 1st round pick? No bc he helps them win.
