AVS fans have said no the Debrincat for Byram, I don't think Beaudin is going to change that very much.
The PIT trade is fine, except I wonder if they want Chad Krys instead of Gilbert.
Would be funny that we turned Brandon Manning into a 4th round pick. I do disagree with Shaw being immovable. (not that we should move him, he was sorely missed these last years.)
I think it's a bit optimistic to say that both De Hann and Maatta will be dumped in cap casualty trades this offseason. I think the best move is to hold onto one, probably Maatta, and have Seattle take them in the expansion draft.
I don't know, picking up Cat and Beaudin both...that's worth Byram all day long in value. Beaudin isn't a first line prospect but he's a solid 2nd liner, of course Beaudin is second to picking up one of the best snipers in the league and the Avs definitely need to round out their top 6.
Either would be fine with Pit
I don't think Shaw is moveable given his concussion history and $3.9M cap hit. Way too much risk. Caggs needs to go given Shaw is coming back and certainly think he's worth a 4th, but agree there is comedy there for sure.
If we were to pick up Byram and given the emergence of Carlsson, Maatta and De Haan could be gone...simply no reason to hold on to them both if Byram doesn't need another year in the juniors. IMO, Carlsson today is better then Maatta albeit less experienced. De Haan is better then those two, but I don't love De haan's game and kind of agree on keeping Maatta for that reason but also because he can be bought out for cheap as an insurance policy. That said, this Avs trade is highly unlikely from both sides, so agree that De Haan or Maatta is gone this offseason....whichever generates a better return and then the other exposed next off season to Seattle.
