AVS fans have said no the Debrincat for Byram, I don't think Beaudin is going to change that very much.

The PIT trade is fine, except I wonder if they want Chad Krys instead of Gilbert.

Would be funny that we turned Brandon Manning into a 4th round pick. I do disagree with Shaw being immovable. (not that we should move him, he was sorely missed these last years.)

I think it's a bit optimistic to say that both De Hann and Maatta will be dumped in cap casualty trades this offseason. I think the best move is to hold onto one, probably Maatta, and have Seattle take them in the expansion draft.

I don't know, picking up Cat and Beaudin both...that's worth Byram all day long in value. Beaudin isn't a first line prospect but he's a solid 2nd liner, of course Beaudin is second to picking up one of the best snipers in the league and the Avs definitely need to round out their top 6.

Either would be fine with Pit

I don't think Shaw is moveable given his concussion history and $3.9M cap hit. Way too much risk. Caggs needs to go given Shaw is coming back and certainly think he's worth a 4th, but agree there is comedy there for sure.

If we were to pick up Byram and given the emergence of Carlsson, Maatta and De Haan could be gone...simply no reason to hold on to them both if Byram doesn't need another year in the juniors. IMO, Carlsson today is better then Maatta albeit less experienced. De Haan is better then those two, but I don't love De haan's game and kind of agree on keeping Maatta for that reason but also because he can be bought out for cheap as an insurance policy. That said, this Avs trade is highly unlikely from both sides, so agree that De Haan or Maatta is gone this offseason....whichever generates a better return and then the other exposed next off season to Seattle.

Byram's Prolly not being traded unless he is included in a blockbuster. top 5 Prospect in the league.

If the Avs needed a guy like DeBrincat then this might be a decent offer, but that's not what they're after. They need a top 6 forward but one that can drive possession more.

Sakic might listen if Dach were floated, but that's probably the only way they consider Byram to Chicago. And even then I don't really see it happening.

Colorado decline. The next 3 years: Byram on an ELC > DeBrincat at $6.4m.

Not sure if you saw the post or not but about a week ago I posted DeBrincat for Byram and got crucified by Avs fans. I can't imagine Beaudan would change it that much. None of it matters though because we're sweeping the oilers smile

are hawks fans done making bad trades for penguins goalies.
I mean it's really clear how the trade helps you, but there isn't much interest there from the penguins because it's not helping them.

Nothing about this trade says....helping your window. Nothing.

Maybe if Dachs involved, COL thinks about it.

not crucified, avs fan admit Debrincat would be a nice add but at the cost of Byram plus his contract expiring during the Mack contract window, its makes for a messy cap situation while they are trying to compete and keep their own.

Debrincat just doesnt have a good enough long term contract for the Avs to consider Byram for

If Dach is involved? There is a reason Dach was taken before Byram so not a chance any team in their right mind would make a trade for Dach plus for Byram.

Avs reported having Dach #1 on their list and Byram #2. I don't think Chicago would entertain Dach for Byram....they would have taken Byram before Dach as they had that choice. So far of course, Dach is the better player then Byram and 1 year later, that has been proven.

I'm getting the feeling from these comments that AV’s fans think Byram gets Dach+. I may be reading the room wrong, but If that is accurate I have no idea why they would think that way considering all things.

I don't think Chicago would do it either. My point was just that Dach is what it would probably take to garner interest from Colorado.

DeBrincat plus probably doesn't do it due to organizational need. In other words, it's not a bad offer in a vacuum, but the fit is just not there.

Can't speak for others, but that's not at all what I'm saying. I love Dach and was hoping the Avs ended up with him in the draft. The only reason it's a "maybe" now is because of how Newhook played last season.

Colorado seems to have their 2C of the future, so adding another in Dach at the expense of a top D prospect might not be the best idea. It's about having a well-rounded team/prospect pool rather than stacking at one position (not about Byram being worth Dach plus).

Off topic, I saw that Byram went into the bubble with COL. Are you guys expecting to get him in a round robin game?

That's fair but the Avs need another top 6 winger, that for sure is a need. They have the cap space to acquire one, and not at the cost of Byram, but as you said earlier, Cat + Beaudin for Byram is a more then fair offer and although Beaudin isn't a first line defensive prospect, he's a very solid 2nd liner while also getting a very young top 6 winger who happens to be one of the best snipers in the league. I don't think it's a bad move but don't see either team wanting to do it.

No, I wouldn't expect that. If anyone gets time it would be Timmins. They brought Byram to get to know the team and get a feel for things. He's pretty much at the back of the line in terms of seeing any actual playing time though (IMO).

That's a shame, If it were my prospect I would want them to get a game in the round robin at the very least. The games dont count, would be a great learning opportunity.

Hey @ChiHawk

Can you give me a quick overview on this player on the Hawks named Dominik Kubalik as starting to hear nothing but good things about him but no nothing of the player. Sounds like Hawks stoled him from the Kings.

Guy is an absolute stud. Bigger guy who shrugs off checks, good speed, one of the best sniper shots in the NHL, started playing the top line next to Toews opposite side of Saad after the new year and his game absolutely lit up. Pure goal scorer. 24 years old, came over form the swiss league and was the leading scorer last year in that league, 7th round draft pick by the Kings...guess they didn't do a good job scouting him as he's obviously in the top 3 to 5 rookies in the league this year.

Id rather have Caggs then Kampf in my honest opinion, but there is some bias towards Caggs in my statement since he played for my local USHL team and ive seen him play

I don't disagree but Kampf is a better defender hands down. Caggs is a better all around player.

im sure we will see Kampf tonight, but it seems both Bowman and Coliton love what both bring so, who knows. Kampf is very underrated penalty killer, would be perfect next to Toews or Carpenter on the PK, same with Caggiula. Caggiula also brings a little more grit into the line up, which is never a bad option.

Thanks ChiHawk as need to get the heads up on this player. My son tells me he is playing tonight so we are going to watch him closely on TV. I think this is how a team can rebuild quickly when it finds a player like him out of no where. Have no idea what the Kings were thinking to let him walk but Hawks fans must be excited. Hope you guys take out the Oilers as they are a team i have always disliked living on westcoast.
