Slow Burn

Created by: WhatNowDiscussion
Team: 2020-21 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 17, 2020
Published: Aug. 17, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This team is not getting any younger and are on track to become a franchise similar to that of the Blackhawks. Meaning PIT will have two or three great players and the rest are depth pieces or young players that have no business playing in the NHL. The pens really need an offensive forward who will just go out and put up points

I don't think you'll saddle any team with Johnson's contract without having to add something nice to do it.

Yeah the jets defence is bad but Johnson would have been the worst defenceman on the team this year. No team will give up assets for him

Johnson is still a good depth defenseman. Last season through 67 games he registered 183 hits and 97 blocks and spent 60.2% of his ice time deployed in the dzone. For comparison, If you adjust Hjalmarsson stats from last season to what he would produce in 67 games, he would come end up with 49 hits and 111 blocks

He sounds like someone you should hold onto then. As for Winnipeg, we have no interest, sorry.

The fact that Johnson is a competant 5-6D does not justify any positive return given his contract. Kyle Turris is a competant 3C, assuming Pittsburgh needed a 3C would you trade a 4th round pick to acquire Kyle Turris?
