They didn't like hearing the Chelsea dagger stabbing their playoffs dreams either.

Yikes 15M for some old as **** defenders.. all to end up with Kuffner a guy struggling in the AHL to end up on the roster.. there's much better options then Buff and Burns especially with Burns being paid 8M til he is 40!

Wings need more if they're retaining on Helm, taking Neal with 3 more years left at 5.75M per, and have to wait until 2022 to reap any benefit when Oilers will probably be a top tier team

Neal’s contract runs to 22-23 so he’d still be on the books for another year after the 2022 draft.

The idea behind this is to address the largest issues oilers have its the DEFENCE. Having 1/3rd of your cap damn near locked up in 3 players makes others expendable.

You're paying for the cap dump and get a defensive minded player back who knows AA and holland.

Sure there are better players I will not disagree... i think Seth Jones would be perfect but no chance players like that will get moved whereas SJ is looking to move one of their top dmen. I would prefer Petri signing but Stl will probably resign him. Buff and burns would give you a 1-2 punch.

Nugent-Hopkins is a free agent in a year, Larsson is trash, and Puljujarvi has decent potential but might not even come back to NA.

Burns was a Norris candidate in 2019. He's still a top ten defenseman in this league according to most metrics, and that was in a down season where the team was terrible. I am confident he can bounce back, and given his freakish physical attributes, that he can be a solid contributor until the end of his contract.

Honestly I think you're still short on the Neal trade. All Pulj and Detroit adds a 3rd. Then I think it's even.

"freakish physical attributes" is 100% accurate.
