You can fill around the yedges

I think the could get Mitch and a better Ekblad. Something isnt right and Ekblad has the best contract.

I think the leafs off Willy, they come back with Motch and hins bonus money.

Both teams can then beat Bostonnand Tampa.

This would be the most top heavy team in the league imo.

I think this is about as good as Toronto will get for Marner due to his contract being so massive

I’d say Florida would have to add. Not sure how little or how much. Marner is already a star, Ekblad has shown he can be with the right team, but no one knows which team that would be. All the risk is on Toronto in this trade. But I won’t act like it’s an interesting framework for a trade, it definitely is intriguing.

Marner's not the guy to play with Barkov. He needs a shooter. A package deal around Nylander would actually suit both teams better.

FLA absolutely can't beat Bruins or Tampa after this trade. Their defense is terrible, the team has no depth and their first line consists of only playmakers.

This trade is a step-up for TOR, but two or three steps down for FLA.

Not to mention that FLA is looking to shed salary.

Can't see this working without Matheson and Dermott being included.

I think I would send Dermott.
For 5 I would even send 17 because if the Leafs have their top 4 locked and 38 patrolling the 3rd pair as much as I love Dermott he is expendable

If they responded with give us Dermott I would say well he was a 2nd and can you give us a conditional 3rd. Make the playoffs it's a 2nd.
Miss and it's a 5th.

Do you think that would seal the real?

i could see a deal with Nylander and Liligren going to Floirda. Yes they will regress a bit but they can take a year or two to go for a retool and improve their defense and wait for some of their prospects to be ready

Because 90 point players are so common. Especially 23 year old ones. He's close to as good as Panarin and is 5 years younger and hasn't reached his prime. It's a pretty good bet the best is still to come for Marner.

It'd seal the deal if TOR agrees to take Matheson's bad contract in full.

I dunno. I think value-wise Marner is the piece they'd demand, but by the same token they won't do the trade without Matheson being included.

i think either guy would be fine for them. Cap wise Nylander and Liligren for Ekblad works as its similar cap in and out. I have a feeling Florida is going to pay Seattle to take Matheson. I think were gonna see tippet + Matheson going to seattle next year

Cap wise yes, value-wise nope. Elite defensemen just are more valuable than top-6 winger by default.

While Marner is somewhat overpaid, he's still an established 90 point asset. I'd imagine Nylander's ceiling to be at 70, which is not bad, but still worse than Marner. So yeah I think FLA is either looking to get maximum asset in exchange to Ekblad or then maximum value in terms of prospects if they look to start a rebuild. Would imagine them demanding Sandin+Robertson+1st or something like that. That'd follow the fact that they're looking to shed salary as well.

Something I threw out there was Nylander, Dermott, and a 2nd for Ekblad, Accari, and a late round pick. Leafs also need a good right handed PK centreman and Accari could be a good fit. Also helps save the Panthers some more money

If we are talking about adding something to the deal for the Leafs.....how about trying to get Flo to send us Spencer Knight?
