Any team looking to acquire Domi can look at what the Leafs got for Kapanen and add a bit more value. So this isnt it

Swap Vegas' first for NYR's first and it should do it smile

TB is a fair trade. You are correct someone needs to go. Bogo is healthy and playing exceptionally well. At 1.8 Tampa signs him. Sadly I think he will get much more than that. After a dozen years he has a taste of playoff hockey. He will sign with a contender.

I mean the Kapanen trade was universally considered an overpay and despite Domi being the better player he will be paid 2.5 million more than Kapanen for the next two years and he wants to leave so I don't think it is a stretch to say that they would fetch similar returns. Maybe a 4th or a B/C level prospect (Andersson?) should be added but I don't think this will be all that far off from what you will actually get.

Yea but that’s a little better than an OS might as well let him get OS’d so teams just bid for him than letting ny sign him for cheap

You are right but I dont see bergevin losing a trade when having that good of an asset. He needs to sell Domi as a second line center for the best return and apparently there are teams that see him as one. Which would net more then a late first and a 3rd

You can't dismiss comparables on the market because you label them as an overpay. If the RFA market for foward is high, you match it or you are out of the game.
