Haha I mean I’d do that on NHL20 where I’d trade everyone for draft picks and build a super young team but not irl

So explain to me why the Wild are trading Shane Wright for Tavares?

In all seriousness Tavares is a fantastic player but he's on the wrong side of 20 and the Wild need to get younger by seeing what we have with Addison, Boldy, and those picks.

Fair enough. But just imagine... Fiala - Tavares - Kaprizov, Parise - Staal - Gralund (comes back), Greenway - JEE - Kunin, Foligno - Rask - Zucarello. That's an unreal F group, coupled with a solid D group

I don't think they've peaked but their value is close

I think they’re real value is in their prime. But I get what you’re saying... also I am not a big fan of magic beans. The team as actually constructed might win a cup in 2026.... yours may not even make the playoffs. See buffalo sabres and Edmonton Oilers for references.

I know this isn't serious but if offered, I'd hope Minnesota declines. Not that I don't want Tavares or even that I don't think good from a value perspective, it's that I don't think making a move like this is smart for Minne.

You give up two of your top 5 prospects (arguably top 3) for a 30 year old (star) center with a massive caphit. It only makes sense if you're going for the cup but I just think it's enough to be anything more than pretenders. Not contenders

Like I said, Tavares is fantastic but let's not kid ourselves the Wild aren't contenders with or without Tavares.
