Yeah we're so not trading our future #3C in Joe Veleno Detroit is already thin at C and we're not trading our best center prospect for Murray sorry not happening.

When did Murray become Patrick Roy or Mrtin Broduer?

Geez do you over estimate his value. In what world is Murray getting a former 1st round pick and a mid round 2nd round pick?

I believe Pens fans are going to be surprised at his teturn.

By the way Wings pass.

I’m sure some Detroit fans will hate this idea but I think they should trade someone valuable who’s in their prime now get another first, a good prospect and pick and draft Askarov. They’re in a legit rebuild and need as many young stars that they can get. Drafting a young goalie with the potential of Askarov would be a great move for this team.

I wish you would have this energy in the Red Wings centred ACGM post from hours ago proposing this exact trade in which I literally commented that I don't know that Detroit accepts it. Even in this post, I clearly state I'm not confident that the Red Wings do it.

It has a lot more to do with Murray being an average goalie in the regular season. His GAA and SV% since he came into the league both rank in the mid 30s. You also have to consider that Pittsburgh have exited in the playoffs in the first round the past 2 seasons with Murray in net.

I just found that post and it was made by a Philly fan and his trades are horrible for the Wings. I read your 1st and wholly disagree that this is a bad trade for Wings. Murray has been a medicore goalie on a talented Pens team, he will be bad on a Wings team that is bad.

My hole post was the absurdity of the Wings trading Veleno and a 2nd for a medicore goalie and your comment that you do not think Wings would do that should have stopped there, but you asked what can be done to get it done. Well removing Veleno would start.

While I agree, most trades that involve Wings lately are either Mantha for Domi and either Mete, a 2nd round pick or my favorite Mete and two 2nds. The Canucks fans want to dump.Ericksson on Wings with alot of prospects that are not top 5. At one time it was Ericksson, Demko and a 2nd, it has devolved to Ericksson, Depietro, and swapping 3rds.

I understand most fan bases overevaluate their own players but it is becoming clear that people believe on this site, Wings have cap, so they will eat our bad contracts, because they are bad. To add the the injury they want something of value bad. Murray is a NHL goalie, he has won two cups, but for the last 2 years he has been average at best, Pens have goalie in waiting in Jarry and they need to clear a goalie, due to expansion, clear cap to field a team and they are trying to exact something when they are dealing from a weak position .

Murray isn’t as old as I thought he was, you’re assessment isn’t wrong but with where this team is at presently he may be a decent option. I’d still try annd draft Askarov and Murray could be a good starter until Askarov was ready just when this team is done the rebuild. Murray then comes a solid backup option who can take over if Askarov struggles. Regardless I wouldn’t give up a player like Veleno in order to get Murray.

I’m not sure I would say they’re dealing from a weak position. Teams like Edmonton, Calgary and anyone else who’s goalie situation isn’t ideal should be looking at Murray. Your avenue of having cap space and ability to help them out is a good option but the goalie struggling teams may be willing to give up a valuable piece to Pittsburgh if it gave them goaltending confidence for the playoffs.

I feel veleno is expendable with Rasmussen and detroit taking another center most likely this year. But I would not trade him for Murray.

How's Veleno expendable with Rasmussen? Rasmussen is clearly better on the wing Honestly Svechnikov-Veleno-Rasmussen wouldn't be a bad 3rd line for us.

Jets certainly don't need a 5.3m RWer in Hornqvist. And you really think Hornqvist is waiving for Winnipeg? Really?

There are better goalies in the FA market, so why would Detroit move one of their best prospects AND a 2nd for Murray? Even if you remove Veleno, I personally wouldn't make the deal.

It has been rumored that Oulers and others have looked into Murray and JR has wanted a 1st for him. Because of that those teams have scoffed and ended the conversation. You can ask for what you want does not mean the team will accept. The price will come down on Murray and either Pens accept or move on.

Not for Murray I still think he is an average goalie that played for a really good team. Much like Osgood in Detroit stepped up when Detroit needed him to but wouldn't have gotten there with out a very good team in front of him. Yzerman did draft Vasilevskiy in the 1st round but it was Tampa's second pick of the round and in the second half of the 1st round. In my opinion #4OA is way too early to take a goalie.

Oh absolutely don’t take Askarov at #4 try and find a way to get another first and take him.

I think Edmonton will jump on him so if you get another first it has to be before them which would come at a steep cost.
