I don't think Tavares' contract is terrible. I get he didn't have his best season statistically, but he's the only one on the team that consistently shows up.
He played most of the season with a broken finger, had an oblique injury prior to the season, he was a new dad, under a coaching change, switching linemates back and forth and was still almost point per game. Not a terrible contract.
johnson is the worst contract on the pens
dubinsky is the worst contract on the jackets
tyler johnson is the worst contract on the lighting
orlov is the worst contract on the capitals
gaborik is the worst contract on the senators

mcdonagh is older, more money and term but u might be right about johnson. pretty sure dubinsky is ltir. gaborik is ltir and zaitsev is way worse. i agree with orlov
I'd argue that Quick has the worst contract on L.A.

Gaborik doesn't even play and his contract is insured. It's a non-factor but with his cap hit, it actually helps the sens reach the floor. Zaitsev is making 2 million more than he should to play the minutes he does.
Dubinksy is on LTIR so Wenneberg is right here for his contract and production.
Neal's contract is way worse than kris russell's. Russell has one year left, not really that bad of a contract.
Unless holland brings in another top four d russell will be playing top four minutes without klef bringing fair value for the 4 million cap hit. Playing him on 3rd pair is when that becomes wasteful. Neal for all the flack he gets does produce goals. Is 5.7 that bad for a guy who should be able to pot 25+ goals? Kass new extension I’m not upset about but is the one I’d point to as most questionable.
