Was this a good signing?

Hmm

Smith and Koskinen vs. Markstrom + Rittich

Battle of Alberta feels one sided now

It's a good thing goalies are stuck in about a 6'x6' playing area on the ice and not responsible for the entire teams worth of roles.

None of the goalies you listed would be a viable NHL tandem goalie. I don't love the Smith signing but he is better option then those 3 at this point of their careers plus Forsberg (guy we signed yesterday) would be first in line for a call up.

Im saying we got decent prospects that could take the place of backup goalie. We still signed forsberg also who could take the position

McDavid + Draiasitl vs Mohahan + Backlund

Battle of Alberta feels one sided now

PS Markstrom was 2-2 vs the Oilers last year.

You don't seem to understand the prospects aren't ready to be a tandem goalie in the NHL especially a condensed season. Koskinen needs a 50/50 split to be effective.

Never understood the Holland hire, and it continues to baffle me to this day. He hasn't improved the problems with this team at all. In fact, he's doubled down on defensive and goaltending ineptitude.

I don't know how you can say he didn't improve the team. Oilers went from **** special teams to league best. Team went from 20th in GF to 11th and 25th in GA to 17th. Seems like pretty good improvements in a tight cap situation.

He barely changed the roster from last year to this year. I'd attribute that more to Tippett's coaching than anything Holland actually did

He made a lot of changes the previous year.. and re-signed the players that he and likely Tippett felt helped the team. What do you expect a GM to fully flip the roster every year?

Larsson is signed...do you mean Lagesson? Lagesson is league minimum. Also Klef is LTIR so that's 4.17 mil. Plenty of space for Bear and Lagesson and probably some quite good PTO's or cheap LD, much like the Pysyk deal. Perhaps Koekkoek.

Yes, autocorrect changed it and I didn't notice...

Too many RW's...

I like the contract. Mike Smith is a solid backup goaltender however I'd rather Edmonton sign Aaron Dell

I think Chiasson will have a suitor for a 5th rounder or so, or a cheaper LW. He and Neal are too similar to have both, but put Chiasson in front of the net on a decent pp and he will pot any team about 15 goals.

After all of the solid moves they made this weekend, they fail to upgrade their biggest weaknesses.

Goalie market was getting thin, not surprised to see this happen after they basically struck out on goalies yesterday.

If its broke....dont fix it?

Dell or Hutchinson wouldve been cheaper gambles than Smith. I doubt Miller would sign in Edmonton- but he is way better than Smith even at 40. Hell even taking a flyer on Schneider at minimum and let him battle Forsberg wouldve atleast been cheaper with some upside.

Koskinen and Smith in net yikes. Looks like a long season in Edmonton if Koskinen can't help out the big 2!
