Yup.

They also happened to make another trade with the Ducks during that draft; a swap a 6th round picks (Leafs 2011 6th for Ducks 2012 6th). And who did the Ducks select with that pick? Josh Manson.

then in 2015 and 2016 they would have had a better team and probably wouldnt have picked Marner and Matthews

Hindsight is always 20/20.

Maybe in five years we will be kicking ourselves hard when Amirov turns into the biggest bust and leaves for the KHL, and Braden Schneider wins the Norris.
Or it could be the opposite, and TOR will be thankful they took Amirov who scores 30g a season over schneider, who is a bottom pairing Dman.

Who knows.

2015 1st (barzal) and a 2nd for Reinhart( who was trash even at that time)

They also probably wouldn't have picked Rakell and Gibson if they kept the picks, but it's still painful to see lol

Correct. With Burkie at the helm, I firmly believe that the Leafs would have still blown the draft. Burkie's draft history is absolute hot garbage.

Probably could've taken Biggs anyways because I have a hunch he would've still been there lol. It was just a laughable trade up.

The best move that Anaheim ever made was letting Burkie walk...

I don't understand what he saw in Biggs in the first place? Purely from a statistical standpoint, he didn't stand out at all...

Biggs was 100% a Burke player and was projected to go earlier than 22nd.

Look at some 2011 mock drafts. Biggs wasn't some off the board scrub.

Yeah, most of them have him right at 30..."Above average penalty killer willing to sacrifice the body. Makes few mistakes in the neutral zone and shows signs of being a 20G 20A player, Most underrated player in draft, will be a steal in late first round."

Guys like Jenner and Grimaldi were also projected to go above him, and slipped to the second round.

Just looking at Bleacherreports post draft grades...Toronto got an A+ tears of joy

TSN had him at 15th: https://web.archive.org/web/20110628182850/https://www.tsn.ca/draftcentre/feature/?id=44969
Granted it's Grant McCagg whose a bit of a nutcase (also thinks KK is better than Matthews)

Yeah...draft was all over the place...Burkie was just bad overall with both his Anaheim picks and Leafs picks.

John Gibson is married to my friend in HS’s little sister. She’s pretty hot. She played basketball at my HS too. But I was acouple years gone when she got there. I think she played D1 basketball too.
