Here's a hot take after last night's game... The Habs don't need Dubios. Suzuki will have a better career than him. Danault and KK are a perfectly fine 2-3.

And, wait for it, the hottest part of the take, Suzuki will be better than Dubios THIS year.

I dont think this is a hot take personally. Suzuki showed what he could do last year and he's building off that. I still can't for the life of me understand why Vegas would trade him for Patches. Dubois is really good, but think of a Dubois/Suzuki/Danault group instead of Suzuki/Danault/KK group. Club is instantly better and possibly elite at that point.

We should get a new trend going on the AGM feed. Sick of all the Dubios threads. Who's the guy to start rumors about? Heard Biz thinks Gaudreau is OUT, could start some fun there.

Not sure it's great having like 20-25mil on 3 center, 10,5 on a goalie and 8 on one dman. That equals already 40mil (half cap space)

Just made this same comment. KK, while not a bust, certainly is not better than Dubois nor will be in the same conversation.

Will be elite. One or two years away IMO. Habs and Sens going to quickly be 2 of Canada's best teams. Future is bright in Canada! Time for the country to break the cup drought!

Well Blues had ROR (7.5) Schenn (5.5) and Bozak (5) while also having a 5.75 wing on the 4th line (Steen) and it worked for them. Granted, they didn't have a 10.5 goalie but 20 to 25 on 3 really good centers isn't bad. Better than 2 centers equaling 23 mil and not having much around them. (Yes I know TOR won last night but Dubois makes MTL instantly a better team).

Dubois would be a heck of an acquisition, but 40mil for 5 dman + 8 wingers seems a bit short. I would prefer this move in a non-flat cap world.

I like Montreal , I just don’t like the gap between the players age. You gotta push for a cup now or rebuild. You got Weber, Petry and Price that are older. And then you got some guys that will be past their prime in a couple of years like Danault, Gallagher. And then you got the kids

I understand that mindset. But 3 really good centers could make a huge difference in your team, more so than wingers. If I were MTL, I'd also look to move Drouin.

Suzuki
Danault
Kotkaniemi

is pretty good in it's own right but I think we are leaving out an important detail with any Dubois trade and that is all of the other pieces it would take to land him. If it was KK + Caufield + 2 1sts then we have no cap room now or in 2 years to extend Suzuki and Dubios. If it was KK + Tatar\Drouin + 1st then our LW is even weaker than it is now. The trades don't improve Habs enough to warrant making a trade. Then when you factor in KK's projection of a 1A or 1B Center then it makes even less sense. Why not roll with the great C group we have now and see if KK can be that 1A or 1B in 2 years.

Hate to use the Blues as an example again, but the Blues had a good mix of older, Middle aged, and youngsters in their cup run and it worked out nicely. Better than everyone being around the same age and bombing out after a few years.

No it actually isn't Freidman did a 31 thoughts episode and said Montreal made an offer and Jarmo countered and asked for Suzuki. MB got mad and ended the call.

I'll say it now, I dont think KK is that great and won't be a 1A or 1b personally (he's a solid number 2). Dubois you know you're getting a 1a/1b center. Drouin isn't that great overall and I dont think it will take KK+Caulfield and multiple firsts. KK alone is certainly not enough for Dubois but as you said he's projected to be a 1a/1b guy so that's great value coming back. You're going to need to clear some cap space and that's where Byron can come in. Montreal wants to win now for Weber, Petry and Price. The current lineup won't get it done. Suzuki/Dubois/Danault puts you in better territory.
