But I agree Hamonic would've been a better fit. Him and a guy like Nutivaara would've helped a lot
In this scenario Bogo isn't signed
Hamonic is better than Brodie at D
Nutivaara torches Bogo
Mo-Hamonic
Muzzin-Nutivaara
Sandin/Dermott/Lehtonen-Holl

The very best fit would've been Chris Tanev

But Brodie was the main reason Gio won the Norris...? This fan base is hit or miss on this site. Feel bad for the knowledgeable Leaf fans

Brodie has been fine so far. New team, new partner. He will settle in and get more comfortable. Okay on defence and great in transition.

The amount of hate already coming his way is absurd. IMO he was the best fit for the Leafs D in FA and I don't think it was particularly close.

He's Jake Gardiner mixed with Tyson Barrie. I said it before, and Leafs fans laughed

He played amazing last year and seems to be on the same path this year. One bad mistake that he recovered from last night was a miscommunication and Freddie **** the bed. The rest was fine by me.

He’s Jake gardiner mixed with Jarod spurgeon.

Far less brain farts than gardiner and less defensive prowess than Spurgeon.

How long before Toronto fans realize all their UFAs signing were old fames on the way out and trading Johnson/ Kapanen was a mistake?

I just think Brodie was signed for the wrong reason.

Like you said, he isn't as defensive as Dubas thought. He needs a half decent defender, like Muzzin as his partner. Not Reilly!

Dubas knows exactly what he was and scouted him intensively. Reilly-Brodie should work just as well as Gio-Brodie.... how did that pairing fair?

Brodie's playstyle is best described as "Rover." He will quite literally be everywhere on the ice in 1 shift. He will also have bad games here and there (especially with preseason), however he is overall a solid player and Leafs fans are definitely freaking out too much

Nope, hated to see them go but that’s just the nature of things.

Yup, 100% agree with this. He seems so far to be the Brodie of late and in two games not one major brain fart. We don’t need great, we need good. We need a lot of players to just be good.

The giveaway in front of the net last night that led to a goal was a brain fart if I ever saw one.

You mean behind the net, when he misread where Reilly was going... then got out in front of the net blocked the shot... then Freddie didn’t track and cover and let a weak waster in.

It was a small mistake with a good recovery and a bad result.
