Because prior to Manson’s injury the ducks had 11 defensemen that could be in the line up any given night. Manson got hurt so now their down to 10. Also Honka has played a NA game in quite some time.

The fact that he couldn’t beat out Pysyk or Fedun has to say something. But still very surprised no one put in a claim. Then again Kylington cleared also. 🤷‍♂️

Here are our options to fill that spot with our roster.

Drysdale - could be a risk to rush him but could also turn out like Fowler

Welenski - Looked meh last night but isn’t awful.

Mahura - Probably safest option. Young smart player who always seems to play very well up in Anaheim.

Hutton - Another safe option, but has yet to practice with the boys so he may need a bit of time first

Curran - Yet to see him play but think he’d be a good fit in with Fowler

Benoit - Could be a reasonable spot but looks better in SD

Drew - Same with Benoit

Not saying he’s great but got to think he’s at least better than Andy Welinski who’s now our RD3

Curran played the right side in Europe is like to see him get the chance. No chance I call Drysdale up this year

No chance to call up Drysdale, because as you said, he could end up like Fowler, playing Fowler the way we did that first year stunted his development almost entirely

Agree 100%. I’m hoping for something like this

Lindholm-Shattenkirk
Fowler-Hakanpaa (looked solid together since Manson went down)
Hutton-Curran

Just because a player shoot right and is a Dman, doesn't make him NHL good.

Given our current depth at worst he’s worth taking a flier on

That's nonsense. Playing a kid too early runs the risk of a few things: Him getting hurt because he wasn't physically mature, him losing his confidence and never getting it back, or trading him away too early based on his early struggles. None of that happened with Cam. He rounded his game out and he's still on our a team and he's still our best d-man (I said what I said). I'm not suggesting Drysdale be necessarily thrown to the wolves right now but using Cam as a cautionary tale is absolutely BS. He proved he was ready to play right away and that was justified considering how he has matured since then.

I agree Cam has rounded out his game, however I think we would see him be a lot better if we had given him a bit more time before the show

How so? What about Cam's game is lacking and how can you possibly attributed that to him playing as a teenager? It's not like hockey players learn how to play hockey at this level. They acquire their skills as children. Maturing at this level is about physical potential, confidence and mental proficiency. None of those things have afflicted Cam. It took him a bit to master those things (relative to his skill level) but he got there. It's not that year prevented him from becoming a Hall of Famer or anything. Keep in mind his best season statistically was his rookie year and he earned that spot. It wasn't like he was shoehorned into the lineup to show off a shiny new toy, he was our best d-man that fall (which says more about our squad at the time more than anything).
