Created by: BStinson
Team: 2021-22 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 3, 2021
Published: Feb. 3, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Spit balling contracts for UFAs, let me know if one needs to be adjusted based on Covid comps. Just saying he would make more/less without any evidence isn’t compelling.

Raymond/Berggren AHL to get acclimated to NA ice and moved to third line if going well.

You’re going to be very disappointed with Hannafin if that’s what you’re giving up

We should not swap Mantha for Hanifin. Mantha really hasn't been playing that bad and he's a lot better than Hanifin.

People hear throwing Hanifin under the bus have really not been keeping up with him at all as of recent. Flames have no interest in moving him

2 2nds is harsh. Could one of them be replaced with a prospect? I know Detroit needs a young goalie, so would DiPietro + 2nd/3rd work?

If you had Mantha would trade him for Hanifin?

Hanifin isn't my favorite either but hes been awesome defensively this year. Maybe hes a late bloomer but I just dont think his offense will ever be that great.

Defensemen and centers are more valuable than wingers.

Takes longer for defensemen to hit their potential and Noah has shown progress plus he’s a great locker room guy per his time with USNTDP.

I’m not saying Mantha is a bum but rather you have to pay to get someone with Hanifan’s pedigree. I also like our chances of getting a top 6 winger than top 4 defensemen next year.

Curious of what you think of the value and who Calgary protects in the ED.

Petruzzelli has looked really good the past 1.5 years. It’s also when he switched from Mechanical Engineering into something a little less intense so I’ve got hope he can be a starter. Something like a second and third without a fourth I think could probably be negotiated depending on the timing of trade.

Depends on needs, Flames don't need left handed wingers and Detroit needs goal scoring. IMO both teams keep who they have

Hanifin, Andersson, Tanev would be my guess for the defense. Value wise, Flames would be looking for a top 6 center probably. Simply put though Hainfin has taken massive strides since last year and is not exactly for sale

Makes sense, I was thinking you needed to protect Valimaki but I see he’s exempt.

Guarentee you if Detroit decided to sell Martha for a dman, they would get better than Hanifin.

You would get better than a 24 year old who is statistically a top 10 defense in the league right now? I get the sample size is small but Calgary is definitely not moving Hanifin for a LHS winger right now

Any idea, who that would be? I personally like Hanifan and think he’s still growing plus he’s known as a leader in the locker room and close friend to Larkin. I think if we could get Hanifan it helps solidify Detroit’s left side and we will have wingers through FA or internal growth (Zadina, Raymond, etc.) to help offset the loss.

Lol right now as in a 10 game sample?

Hanifin hasn't proven to be more than a middle pair D outside of this season. Ristolainen was off to a hot start and is sinking again, defensemen are no guarentee. Mantha is a bonafide top pairing winger. Hanifin may be the most overrated player on this site due to his draft status

No he isn't lol. He has simply looked excellent this year. 1 goal against in 8 games and 13th among defense in CF league wide. I am not knocking Mantha, I think DET should keep him as he is a very good player. What I am saying is Calgary has no interest in butchering their really good d-core for someone they don't particularly need. If Gio was had just turned 30 and not 37, sure but that's not the case
