Resign almost everybody, move Byron to someone to free up some cap space, and sign someone to play 4th line RW, I personally like Ho-Sang, but I could see a number of players filling that slot, I want someone around or under 28 and under 1.2m cap hit essentially. From a cursory search just now (Feb 15, 2021,) guys I would potentially target that are RFA are: Julien Gauthier & Janne Kuokkanen, (and Ho-Sang,) and UFA I would look at are: Josh Leivo & Stefan Noesen.
Re-signing everyone is basically the big priority though. I have some leftover cap space that could be used to beef up any of the deals I made, the UFA center class is a bit thin for what I think the Habs can afford, Adam Lowry is basically the only other centerman I can see them looking at, but I would stick with Danault. Nugent-Hopkins would be cool, but he's way too expensive. The Byron trade could be to anyone basically, just getting his contract off the books is what I want there, I don't dislike him as a player, but I do think he's overpaid for what he provides, and that money could be better spent elsewhere. Poehling as 4th line LW is exciting to me, and while I would be sad to see Lehkonen gone, he's another contract that is a bit too much for the current cap situation. Price's contract is a burden, but I still think he's one of the best in the league, and I don't see that moving anytime soon, lest something very drastic happens.
Detroit refused to take Byron FOR FREE. What's the point of that trade.... Also Ho-Sang is a complete bust cancer. NYI would be happy to get rid of him for like a 7th
Byron is almost untradeable. Probably have to buy him out.
Could have had Ho-sang for free. He’s trash.
I wouldn't say Ho-sang is trash. Since his junior days, the issue has been his attitude/work ethic. This has lead to many teams not wanting to take a shot at him. He is a very skilled player but again his attitude has stunk. I would like to see him get another chance at the NHL but who knows If he ever does. And yea you could have had him for free, but if that trade were brought up to Lou Lamarillo, he would take it.

That’s part of why he’s trash. He just crapped out in Europe. Best to stay away.
Detroit passes, And Danault already turned down 5 x $5M to remain in Montreal. So he's not signing for less.
Well actually, they were close on the number, Danault wanted more years to stay in MTL for the rest of the season, with a similar cap. Let me remind you that it is a negotiation done by the agent and not the player. If you want 5.5.... you say 6 or 6.5... then you settle at 5.5.
Danault wants to end his career in MTL, he wanted 6 to 7 years instead of 5.
