Kings fan here. They will protect Doughty, Roy, Walker. My guess is Seattle takes Clague in the expansion draft. If not Clague, then Wagner or Andersson if they’re left unprotected.

I protect Clague. Anderson, Clague and Bjornfot are a pretty good, young LHD combo...

Yeah I do think SEA will be picking a D from the Kings...most likely going to be the one from Walker, Roy and Clague getting left out.

I myself am banking on Roy, but we will see. Would like to have more insight from the Kings fans.

If they go 7-3-1, Doughty, Walker, and Roy will be protected. There is no question about that at all. The only question is if they decide to protect the 4th defenseman, which would be Clague.

For the longest time I thought the kings would go 4/4/1. But if I were to guess, Clague gets left off. Which is unfortunate because I’ve been waiting for him to crack the lineup full time. Thought it would have been this year, guess not.... also, I would hope the kings would get a 1st for iafallo, but he’s a UFA so I don’t know. Maybe 2nd and 4th might be more reasonable 🤷‍♀️

Roy is our 2nd best defenceman and Walker is our 3rd best defenseman, both are getting protected 100%. If the Kings trade for a top 4 defenseman like rumored, Walker will get exposed before Roy unless they go 4-4-1.

Iafallo isn't getting a 2nd and 4th, he'll get a 1st+ or we won't trade him.

I suspect we'll hear about an Iafallo extension in the next 4-6 weeks.

The issue is how many forwards we want to protect beyond Kopitar, kempe and Iafallo (like my friend @tkecanuck341 I think that Iafallo will sign an extension prior to the expansion draft).

Let's suppose that the team decides that our fourth best forward likely to be selected is Carl Grundstrom. The issue is do we steel ourselves to lose one of Amadio, Andersson, Athanasiou, Frk, Lizotte, Moore or Wagner (Seattle won't take Brown or Carter) by protecting Clague, or do we protect three of that half-dozen middle-sixers and lose Clague?

Personally, I can live with losing one of the forwards more than with losing Clague. But that's just my opinion; I could be wrong.

I realize that. I think Iafallo is going to want to make the best case he can for as much money as he can, so he won't want to sign until he has a chance to put up more points. If not committed by the deadline, I think the Kings will trade him so they won't lose him for nothing. Hence, my estimated 4-6 week timeframe.

It is entirely possible he signs before that, but I think it's more likely he'll sign nearer to the deadline.
