depends who the prospect is. They will likely be lesser prospect because they will trade for a depth player

Canucks decline. Add a 4th round pick and you have a deal

Why is it dumb may I ask? They are a contending team. They have many prospects. Seems like a good idea to trade prospect for pieces now if it's a good deal obviously.

trading a prospect and a pick for Troy Terry would be a good move for example. Still young, adds depth, and great cap friendly contract

To be fair, telling the media all your plans and discussions with other teams wouldn’t be as fun as seeing everyone making stupid ACGMs, including myself.

He's made some great trades too. The Muzzin trade, the Campbell trade, the Kapanen trade, all great trades he's made. In fact, the Kapanen deal gave them some more great prospects. Trading a prospect or pick for a player is a smart move, obviously it depends on the move but just as a general rule I mean.

Are you ok?. Do prospects currently help our chances and run for the cup. No. If the right deal is offered why not trade them. I do think Sandin is/should be untouchable. Possibly same for Robertson. We were saying at the draft that the pick or the player from the pick could be packaged and flip from the kapanen trade.

Also, smart move by the GM as this sends a calming message to the locker room that he's not shopping anyone. Claiming Dubas is dumb after some of the garbage he inherited from previous GMs, I'd say he's very smart in his ability to draft, make trades to navigate tight cap and convince superstars to sign with them long term.

If anything ever makes me stop being a Leafs fan, it's other Leafs fans. smh

A smart GM doesn't play his hand in front of the media. Certainly isn't going to name players that he wants, players he wants to trade, or even makes known what position he sees to be upgraded.
Hockey fans should not hang on the word of GMs coaches or players and their social time in front of the camera.

Leafs need to include David Ayres or no trade.
