So obviously chicago is not trading Kane, but if they were you know that you have to give up Byram+ right?

Why would Detroit have any interest in Erik Johnson? Right now RD is our position of strength. he'd be a $4.5 million RD on the bottom pairing as he's not going to get minutes over Hronek and Seider. And i seriously doubt Detroit's even on his trade list anyways.

It's a cap dump for someone they can buy out in the off-season. And they get a 1st rounder for it basically.

Not really close for the hawks to trade kane. Especially if they're retaining any salary.

Where’s the first rounder? The buyout costs 8M cash and 8M cap so using Marleau’s buyout as a comparison this is extremely off and Bobby Ryan returns a second rounder or at worse third rounder at TDL.

Edit - 6M because retention

No Thanks I do not want to tight up money over the next 4 seasons.

Since being traded to the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies Beaucage is at a goal a game pace and before being traded he was at a point a game pace. He has 17g + 11a for 28p in 22 games. Plus they are retaining $1.5M on Johnson. Personally I think Beaucage cancels out the dump. Throw in a 3rd for Ryan and It's a no brainer.

My only problem is why would Colorado do this? Sakic is almost as smart as Yzerman I just don't see him making this trade.

That production is also his D+2 season. If he didn’t have that production would you value him the same? I have serious concerns about his skating and defensive game/awareness. The guy has a nice shot don’t get me wrong but I question how much time and space he will get at the next level and since he isn’t great defensively and skates like he has boulders tied his feet, he isn’t my guy.

Those are bad trades but for everybody involved. Bobby Ryan is about the worst fit possible for the Avs, and EJ has zero value and guaranteed DET is on his NMC list.

Why does COL want Schmaltz when they have Kadri and Newhook coming, Helleson would be attractive to AZ, but a late 1st and a guy struggling for your de facto 1C. Nah.

You are right I probably wouldn't value him the same. In the 2 seasons before this season he did score 39 and 40 goals so it's not like all of he sudden he's good. You description of Beaucage does remind me a lot of a former Wing's player Tomas Holmstrom. I'd probably take the chance but I do get your point and I''m less excited about him than I was before.
