If you know this isn’t even realistic why not trade for guys like EP, Heiskanen, Makar, etc? This seems like you’re trying sort of and the value is off a bit.

Every single Roslovic proposal that does not result in a legit #1C is an automatic fail. Every one. All of them.

You misunderstand. I'm not saying "we're going to get our #1C by trading Roslovic", I'm saying "we're not trading Roslovic unless we get a miracle offer such as that."

I think what you're both trying to say is that there's no way CBJ trade Roslovic UNLESS we already have a (likely separate) deal in place to get a 1C. It's not a comment on Roslovic's value, it's that we have so few centers we can't afford to trade him without already having one coming in from somewhere else.

Our depth down the middle is a 3rd-line winger (Jenner or Domi, depending on the night), Roslovic (a 3C), Stenlund (a 3C prospect), and either a 2nd line wing prospect (Texier), deadline 4C trade bait (Nash), or a 2C prospect who can't stick in the lineup (Foudy).

Either way, the trade above gets rejected. Pettersson and Matheson are both overpaid 3rd-pair defensemen at best. We'd be giving our most hated "rival" (is it a rivalry if it's one-way?) cap relief, our only legitimate center, and picks for two guys who arguably aren't any better than what we already have.

That's part of it. The other part of it is that the kid's something of a hometown hero, so there's little appetite to trade him at all.

Stupid GMJR should have jumped on Roslovic when he had the chance to in Winnipeg. He only cost Columbus a third basically. I wouldn't have minded Pittsburgh trading a third + a little more for him back then. However, knowing GMJR, he probably would have heavily overpaid...
