Who is saying that Wood is overpaid at 2.75 million? He has shown that he provides some leadership and also fits into a role that nobody else on the team plays. He also just had another 15+ goal season so I would argue that his deal is very fair.

This doesn’t make sense. Why are we trading a 25 year old on a good contract for a 30 year old player who is overpaid. I’ll take JVR, but for a package like Merkley and a 3rd

Can’t see the Hawks being interested in that package. The 2nd isn’t enough for the Hawks to give up Murphy, and Strome struggled to score in the ECHL this year. I don’t think he pushes it over the top. Worth it or not, Chicago is going to want at least a 1st for Murphy, and even then they might prefer to re-sign him since he’s so important to our D.

The fact that Hawks fans think Murphy is worth anything more than a 2nd is pretty funny to me. He is a meh mid pairing D man with no upside at all.

Devils pass on this offer but still would be interested in JVR. Wood isn't slightly overpaid, he has a fair contract. Wood is a great leader and had 17 goals this year, playing 4th line minutes. The reason he is playing on the 4th line is because of chemistry and role. He's a big power forward that can score and works well with McLeod and Bastian. A comparable player on the Flyers is Scott Laughton, but Wood is a better scorer

Yeah I don't see Strome as mid tier prospect. He's pretty much a bottom tier or bust at this point. The guy can barely crack the AHL roster.

I'm not fully convinced you'd need to give up both a 3rd and Laczynski to have them take Ghost. Though I see the argument since no one claimed him when he was free. But that could be due to adding a $4.5 million player in the middle of the season is more difficult compare to the offseason (and in this case a brand new team).

While I'm fine with small changes (if done right), I don't think the rest of the fan base would be happen with minor changes after last season unfortunately. And I'm not fully sold on Savard as being the answer to pair with Provy.

That fact that you don't says you don't watch Murphy. He's gotten better every year and continues to get better (no upside LMAO). Hawks aren't trading Murphy.

He is a 15 pt/year player that has been up and down defensively over his entire career. There is NO upside!! Just because he is the best D man on your team doesn't mean he is good.

He's a defensive defenseman. The fact you bring up points as part of your evaluation surely means you don't understand what kind of player he is. Most analysts believe he is a top 3 on most good teams (The Athletic just had an article about him on this citing such). He's improved every year noticeably and again pro analysts have pointed this out over and over again, and you keep saying no upside which is laughable. Again, Hawks aren't trading him for a 2nd...not happening.

I think he's proven he can produce at .6 ppg when healthy. He hasn't been healthy as of late. If you call that good then sure. Not going to waste any more time arguing blackhawks hockey with you because it's clear you don't watch them or know what you're talking about

No way does Murphy get a 1st rounder, especially a 12th overall. He is a solid 4th-7th dman on the last yr of a almost 4mil contract. Hes solid, but hes 28. Hes not as good as UFA David Savard or a number of other options out there. But he fits what PHI needs a solid 3rd pairing RD, PK vet.

A better prospect I could see, (maybe Linus hogberg or a rubotsov ) but I cant see a return that much bigger.

Hawks aren't trading him for anything less, they have zero reason to. As the pro analysts have said, including The Athletic most recently, Murphy is a very good #3 shut down defender on a good team and on a cheap contract as such at only $3.8M. Putting him on the 3rd line is waste.

Was that article written by the Athletics writer who covers the Hawks by chance?!?! The stats show that he is up and down and has been his entire career but you keep thinking that your D is in any way shape or form and good. When this guy is your best D man, that is very sad!

That's fine, you can keep your mediocre D man, we aren't trading 13OA for trash.

Nobody said 13th OA and nobody said the Hawks are shopping him. You posted an AGM and get feedback and the reality is, there is not a Hawks fan in the know (there are plenty here) that agree Murphy is only worth a 2nd and scrub prospect. That should tell you something and if not, like I said, read what the professional analysts have to say. It's okay, you misjudged his value...nobody is perfect.

Which one's? There's a difference between Hawks fans that are regulars and knowledgeable versus a casual posting; surely you can tell the difference.
