Vegas isn’t doing that. They weren’t last offseason when it was one for one, and a second doesnt help a team in the win now mode

Chabot would probably be one of the most ideal acquisitions for the hawks but simply will not happen.

Two players I would think are untouchable in Ottawa... Tkachuk and Chabot.

Well and Connor Brown of course!

By the rules of CapFriendly, I hereby state there will be no trading of thee Debrincat.

...even though Chabot changes this whole franchise possibly.

Yeesh I mean I know DeBrincat had an incredible year (50-goal pace), and that he's had other great years, but I'd think any smart GM, especially of a young team, isn't trading their franchise defenseman. I think this deal would work technically for both teams, but I don't think either goes for it.

Theroretically if Ottowa won the Lottery and got Owen Power on top of already having Sanderson, Brandstrom, Thompson, Benard-Docker, etc. Do they consider moving Chabot in that situation. I get that the answer is probably no but i'm just curious

If they got 1st overall pick they probably wouldn't take Power. Someone like Berneirs or Guenther is likely

Totally fair question. I think it's more likely they trade Brännström or Thomson - I think if they improve their D and need to shed some prospects those two are the odd ones out. Chabot is an established No. 1 D imo and at worst would be the second best defensemen on most teams. Better to trade less sure things

I know we need a #1 defenseman, but I think trading Debrincat, who was #2 this season in goals per game in the entire league and has actually elite type analytics along with Beaudin and a first round pick for Chabot is way too much. Chabot has some of the worst defensive analytics in the league this year, his offense is elite and thats certainly valuable for most teams, but the hawks aren't most teams, they are garbage at defense and Lankinen faced way too many shots last season. I get why Chabot would make sense on the surface level for the hawks (elite defenseman on a team that needs an elite defenseman), but why would I want that guy + his cap hit playing next to Boqvist. Boqvist is not as good as chabot but his strengths and weaknesses are literally the same. The hawks do not improve with this deal, they actually in my opinion get significantly worse because we have more defenseman who cant play defense and we lose a cornerstone/borderline elite winger, a B prospect AND a mid first round pick. If our goal is to make Lankinens life easier, we do the opposite and give away our first round pick + it costs more
