Think a different team would be more interested in Sanford. Ottawa doesn't have a real need for a bottom six forward right now.

Calgary only moves Tkachuk for Eichel, And try more like 7 x $9,000,000 for Dougie Hamilton.

As would any team, But sadly i doubt he takes anything less then the Pietrangelo deal. And rightfully so.

Unloading Vince Dunn for a 50th overall pick 😐

How is that fun or a dream in any way

Especially for a team with an aging core

They can just leave Faulk unprotected

Dunn a much much better situation overall

There isnt a team in the NHL that needs Sanford, IMO. He is pretty bad...

Dunn looks good on paper - but if you've watched enough Blues hockey the last few years you would understand he is pretty overhyped. I would be ecstatic if we traded him for anything above a late 3rd rd pick.

Yea i should change that hamilton deal.... I do wonder if the market will suck again. And im not sure Hamilton has a case to get more than a stanley cup winning captain in Petro.... but he certainly should demand something close.

Dunn is basically Will Butcher, just a tad faster.
Not the kind of defense we need.

Dunn goes for more like a 1st round pick (yes yes I know OVERPAY but that's OVERPAY BLASPHEMY, Armstrong set that as his price point for him). Blues wouldn't want to negotiate that deal for Tkachuk, and Calgary rightfully declines as Tkachuk should be off the table unless something better like Jack Eichel is coming back. Good luck on DHam taking 5 years. Scandella isn't a cap dump or negative value he's just not gonna make anything more than a 4th round pick back for us. Sanford is probably going to be on another team Bottom 6 forward is not something Ottawa is in the need for right now. Yes Sanford is a decent player I agree just not something Ottawa needs when they have a plethora of farm system they could use over a Zach Sanford who is very streaky at best.

Except for exposing Faulk (it should be Krug instead), I'm down with every word of this.

It's hilarious how Devils fans keep saying this. And by "saying this" I mean deluding themsleves. Butcher is not even in the same universe as Dunn when it comes to puck movement. And he doesn;t play physical, either. Butcher was a rookie year wonder on the PP, but has regressed hard since then.

    Its funny because its true.

Butcher has put up more points overall than Dunn, and in fewer games.
Butcher's pts/60 are higher than Dunn both on power play and at even strength.
And Dunn gets a higher % of his starts in offensive zone.
They have had similar possession statistics, Dunn a little better since he has been on better team. Butcher better relative stats.
And Dunn turns the puck over more than Butcher.
And Butcher's career hits-per-60 are similar to Pietrangelo's over same period.
Butcher also blocks shots at higher rates than Dunn.

So, no, we are not deluding ourselves. We are just pointing out what is actually true.
Dunn and Butcher are very similar players in value and production.

I dont understand blues fan's perspective of Dunn. He's sloppy with the puck, undersized, lacks compete, needs to be much better at puck battles and in front of his own net. But he shows flashes of skill, both skating and with the puck, and punched a guy in the tunnel in the AHL once.

Maybe it depends who he punched.

Best outlet passer on the defense, best open-ice hitter on the defense, best skater on the defense, best wrist shot on the defense, scores more goals than anyone on the defense, youngest player on the defense, going to cost less than half of the defense, has 6 more years of his prime before he hits 30 where players typically begin to decline.

Wow, there is so much wrong/misleading/strategically cherry picked (one from this season alone, one from career, one from this measure, one from that measure... ), but I'm just going to give you props for deftly tip-toeing right around my biggest point, which is that Butcher can't hold Dunn's jock when it comes to puck movement and transition game (otherwise known as the key to modern hockey).

On what planet is 6' & 205 "undersized"? What?

And saying Dunn lacks compete is just an admission that you don;t watch him play. Seriously.

Cherry-picked? I gave you a dozen or so measures.
And conceded Dunn has had better possession stats.
You gave me, "Butcher can't hold Dunn's Jock"

    Who has higher breakout %?
Who has better neutral zone pass completion rate?

At least try to present an informed opinion.

Yeah, and cherry picked the parameters of all of them. Some this season, some all seasons, some this, some that. That's what cherry picking is, bro. Going around all the bad fruit to grab the few that fit your needs.

Oh... and half your measures were just plain false anyway. So there's that.

Wow, so you're really going to pretend that Butcher (who is two years older but one Cup ring lighter) is even in the same universe as Dunn when it comes to puck moving/transition play? I really need to do this? Fine, Mr. Informed, here ya go. I grabbed last season's, because this year's aren't up yet. All numbers are percentile rankings by position.

    Controlled O-zone entries per 60min

    Butcher - 44
    Dunn - 85

    Controlled O-zone entry success %

    Butcher - 55
    Dunn - 80

    Controlled D-zone exits per 60

    Butcher - 37
    Dunn - 96

    Controlled D-zone exit success %

    Butcher - 31
    Dunn - 82

I could go on, but what's the point? If this doesn't end this no-brainer discussion, nothing will.

    That is ridiculous.

(if you are going to put words in someone else's mouth, do it elsewhere. I'm not your strawman)
