Dubas should not be fired. He did everything he could and the team let him down

I think he is gonna get 1 more chance. But this time one of the 3 young stars is gone. (Mathews, Marner, Nylander, heck maybe even Rielly)

This isn't on Dubas at all. He gave them literally everything they needed to win (good goaltending, a well improved defence that was top 8 in the league, a high powered offence, grit, veteran leadership, depth throughout the lineup.. literally everything). It's not on him.

Keefe being fired is a long shot, but something to consider as I've said since game 3. It's his job to put the players in the best situation to succeed, and he did very little tog et the Matthews/Marner pair away from Danault and Weber/Chiarot. That's on him. But I think with how vastly the team improved under him in most areas, firing him would be an overreaction.

This is on the players. They're the ones who didn't perform, and changes are coming with the roster. Almost guaranteed. What that is, who knows. But any big move from the core 4 isn't as easy as people think.

Matthews and Tavares aren't going anywhere. Marner likely isn't either (as poor as he performed during the playoffs, he was still a top 5 scorer in the league during the season and moving him this off-season after a playoff like that is selling him well below his actual value. So unless a team massively overpays, he won't be moved). Nylander is a tough guy to move because he was their best player all playoffs. Doesn't make sense to move the guy that performed so well all year, but his value is at an all time high so it's worth exploring the idea. Rielly could be a likely candidate to go. He's the lone player that Dubas didn't bring into the organization and is part of the leadership core, so that's a shakeup in itself. Brodie was incredible all season, he's not being moved. Muzzin is highly inconsistent and as much as I'd like them to move him I highly doubt they do it. From there there's just no one to move of value that brings in anything useful. Outside of Rielly being moved, there's not much choice and it's on the players to figure this shiit out and change things or it's gonna be a complete blow up soon.

Lol. No. Rantanen plays with MacKinnon who is the best playoff performer of this generation. Pretty easy to look better when you play beside him.

Every single player on the Leafs roster signed for next season (imo) is worth their cap hit except for Marner. I definitely wouldn’t trade Matthews, Nylander or Rielly. The cap savings from Marner should enable you to add multiple quality pieces.

Nikita Kucherov and Brayden Point have arguments with that statement how many cups does MacKinnon have?

Seriously? Do you not watch MacKinnon play? He has the best PPG in the playoffs since like Yzerman and Lemieux. It doesn't matter that he hasn't won a cup yet. That's a team thing, not an indiviual.

Having a big body (notably cuz of the long reach) matters when trying to score or make plays in the playoffs. When you’re smaller, you need the heart of a lion. That’s just not Mitch Marner.
Rantanen happens to have both.

I'm not saying Point or Kucherov are bad playoff players. They're just not on MacKinnon's level at all.

CBJ declines, they rather have picks and prospects.

Yeah if by everything he could you mean drag up every old washed up player he could find and call them "depth."

100% agree. marner just doesn't have that killer instinct.

OK, I understand not liking Marner, but Jones? Please. 2 playoff round wins in 9 years, doesn't seem to the guy you need....especially with just one year left on his contract

You're crazy you're making it sound like Colorado is Nathan MacKinnon and a bunch OF ECHLers that's a really good team he's got with him

& you're making it seem like Tampa doesn't have the best depth in the salary cap era.

Nope not at all but Kucherov has 11points last round is the lightning all time playoffs points leader point is an absolute beast

I’m not sure “only” two playoff series wins is the argument that Leafs fans want to be making.

Dubas built a good team. Keefe coached it well. The goalie played well.

The d had three bad giveaways on 7 games but otherwise played well.

Our 2 superstars couldn't convert. People will make it about other stuff but in the end thats why they lost. Because Matthews and marner didn't get it done. Everyone else did their job between good enough and great.

You have to win to be considered the best period. Great playoff players carry there team if they have too

I don't why on this site, folks think Jones (and Werenski) are such difference makers. Of course Jones shoots right, so it's expected that the Leafs pay three times more than any other team.

So McDavid isn't considered the best player in the game today by your standards? .. good to know. LOL
