Rielly

Created by: MetaKnight
Team: 2021-22 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 3, 2021
Published: Jun. 4, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Sadly unless the Leafs don't bring back Hyman, trade a big contract or the cap takes a big jump after next season probably won't have the cap space to bring back Reilly.

Trades - are made before July 17 roster freeze

Protecting - Marner, Matthews, Nylander, Tavares, Dumba, Brodie, Muzzin, Holl & Campbell

Lines - If only one of Amirov & Robertson make the team then move Haula to 2LW, Hallander to 3C, Brooks to 4C & find a 4LW.
D pairs - I did what I think is the most likely but you can switch it about. I like how Bogosian played but don't think he'll come back to be 7th & I think Lily will be with the Leafs next year. Staal can be any vet for cheap

Too much for one season of Rielly, especially if the trade happens before the expansion draft. Not a lot of teams have the room to protect an extra defenseman. The 1st or the prospect, but not both.

That’s not worth moving Dumba for but if you do end up moving Reilly then Menell would be a good, cheap option.

laugh laugh Dumba > > > Kerfoot, Kerfoot has nowhere near Dumba's value. Toronto needs to add a hell of a lot more then just Kerfoot.

Also, I find it amusing that you think that two seasons of Dumba is only worth Kerfoot, but that one season of Rielly is worth a 1st and an A prospect.

I get your angle/leverage on the Kerfoot/Dumba trade but if Wild can't get what they want for Dumba then they shouldn't trade him. Trades in the NHL are like a game of chicken a lot of times and if you are a flincher then you will never get full value offers.

I'd rather just lose Dumba to SEA for nothing. MN gets to keep Soucy and open up $6m in cap..

Dumba for nothing, or Dumba + Soucy for Kerfoot. Pretty easy choice for MN to make.

Reilly trade isn’t happening. Plus we couldn’t afford to resign him with all our young guys we need to pay the next couple of years.

Agreed that it's too much but the Rangers are a team that could acquire a defenseman pre-expansion, only protecting Lindgren and Trouba right now. And Rielly isn't a fit for the Rangers, as Fox is a better PP Defenseman, and Lundkvist should get to play on the 2nd unit.

I'm definitley not saying this is the best Minny could do but if it's lose him for nothing or for Kerfoot who you can protect makes some sense (if you think Kerfoot has value). And I don't know how many other teams have a spot open to protect him

Well Leafs don't have to move Rielly at all, let alone before the expansion draft, so he has value. Admittedly might be to much but I don't know the Rangers prospects at all, so I picked the one I know the name of.
I only chose the Rangers cause they could use some help on D & have the ability to protect one (so yeah maybe the should call up Minny then).
