Missed ya...
TML had a depleted roster years ago w/ injuries and it was a failure.
And, other than TBL last year, how'd those other clubs do?

Now that Giordano has been selected Flames may decide to go with 3 A's for a season in which my picks would be Tkachuk Tanev and Lucic. Maybe have Backlund and Tanev alternate A's like Backlund at home and Tanev away. But if they want to name a official Captian these would be my picks
C-Lucic. I know this may seem like an odd pick but he is the only player on our roster to have won the cup. He knows the journey that it takes to get there and can possibly lead the team farther than the 1st round. Also a fan favorite
1st A, Tkachuk. He is one of the best leaders in the room, hasn't been as good since the Muzzin accident but still a good leader.
2nd Tanev/Backlund like I said above these 2 are good leaders and could have one at home and the other away. These 2 are good leaders. I believe Tanev even wore the A one or two games this season when Monahan was out. Also Backlund has been an assistant for a while and knows how it works. This could bumb him to the C but I don't kniw if I like the idea.
(Is there 3 a's if there is a Captian?) If so I would do possibly Lindholm. Most consistent player the last few years for us and could do well in a leadership role.
What are your thoughts? LMK what you would change


While I might argue about giving Lucic the C, you know he’s guaranteed to be in Calgary 2 more years. (Since his NMC prevents him from being sent to the AHL, cap hit prevents him from being traded, and he’s basically buyout proof)

So I guess similar to Derek MacKenzie with the Panthers, they give the C to a bad player but good leader for 2 years as a stopgap until your young star is ready.

so unrelated to Seattle but

Winnipeg and MTL eyeing Ristolinen

I dont see how he helps either team as he provides 0 defense.

Also according to earlier reports asking price is a 1st and prospect

Offensive D-men are also somewhat appreciated. Risto has a reputation as a 40 point D in the craphole Buffalo, so I'm not surprised there's some interest towards him. Also older GMs prefer size and physicality, and Risto brings both.

1st and 3rd asking price is ridiculous though.

True but the issue in Winnipeg is their Defense really aint strong defensively. Like of all the Dman they got Pionk and Demelo have good defensive numbers. Everyone else is in the Yikes category. So you add Ristolinen to that and Hellybuck is gonna be left on his own the majority of the time.

Now MTL could use him but Losing Weber and replacing him with Ristolinen balances the offense lost but the defense gets weaker as Risto really aint that good in that department lul.

To me going to a team thats more defensive orientated makes sense as he could provide the offense they need.

MTL is one of the defensive-oriented teams, and Ristolainen would be perfect on the 2nd pairing with reasonable minutes. They were clearly lacking some offense from the blueline by the middle of the season when Jeff Petry inevitably slowed down.

That’s true, but I’d certainly rather another offensive D that doesn’t cost as much in terms of assets and dollars.
