They’ll try to resign him and he plays wing in Winnipeg if you look at it the second line
Stastny Dubois Ehlers

I'm not a Sabres fan, not a Canes fan. Just someone who works in hockey.. But I wouldn't trade Necas straight up for Eichel

Stastny Dubois Ehlers

Lol. Saying they have too many centres then saying Stastny will re-sign and play the wing?

Stastny CAN play the wing but he doesn't prefer it and prefers centre. There's also a strong chance he doesn't re-sign in Winnipeg because the last time he was a UFA there he walked for Vegas. Can't imagine he signs there again if they're telling him he's going to play wing instead.

Also, Trocheck actually fits in Winnipeg well. He's a centre, but can play wing too. How does that not fit if it's the same thing Stastny does? Could easily play in his spot and be either Dubois/Trocheck/Ehlers or Ehlers/Dubois/Trocheck line.

Sorry for chiming in here, but I just found it hysterical how you tried to justify not getting Trocheck when he's literally almost the exact same player as Stastny.

Wow didn't Trocheck have a big comeback season this year? Why is he being discarded for so cheap? After the season he had, team will offer way more than that.

Necas showed the ability to dominate in the playoffs this season. At such a young age, that's rare and he's still in his ELC and likely doesn't make $10M against the cap. He's still a future 80-90 point player so what makes Eichel that much more valuable? I'd rather have the younger player that can still dominate and not pay him as much so I can fill out the team.

Eichel's not going to get the return that this site thinks. You should be highly shocked if he gets a top prospect or a top young player like Necas.

Necas is 2 years younger. At Necas age eichel was 1.16 ppg. Necas is .77

I think that will be about the best offer the Sabres will get IMO. Trochek, the Jets should jump at that, teams can't have enough good centres.

Trocheck's cap hit is too high for what Winnipeg needs, so isn't worth Appleton and a 3rd to Winnipeg. Plus it would need to be after the XD.

The jets have the cap space. Maybe with 750K retention the jets would bite post expansion. I like the move tbh. Adding more depth and good depth at that.

That's not really a fair comparison when Necas stayed over in Europe after his draft and didn't have a full season until last year when that was cut short due to COVID and this year was a shortened season.

But over the same amount of time in their careers, they're close than you think. Taking into account only the last 2 seasons for Necas because his time before that was a 1 game stint and a 7 game stint, he are the comparables over the same amount of time when they started their careers:

Necas - 77P in 117 games (0.66PPG)
Eichel - 86Pin 117games (0.74PPG)

So it's a lot closer than you make it seem or than you think. I'm not saying Eichel isn't better. He is. But realistically Necas has a chance to be just as dominant and will likely come in at a lower contract cap hit, so I'd take the almost same production for like $2M - $3M less any days of the week in Necas.

I guess 4 might not be too bad, I'd prefer someone at 3.5 or lower for that type of position. 4.75 though is far too much for what he brings. It would also depend on how much the Jets spend on fixing up the defense which I would prefer they work on first. Then see how much money is left.

I like the Eichel deal but the rest of the moves would make us too top heavy.

I wouldnt expose Foegele. Fast, Nino and Skjei would be the exposure targets if Eichel was coming over.

Tro. Columbus Jones for Tro? Keep him and play him on the right of Aho?

Unless Nino or Skjei are taken we can't keep Tro in this hypothetical, we don't have the cap space. Even if Skjei is taken we can't keep Tro, we would need cap to sign a 2LHD

Maybe. We could sign a 2 / 3LD for cheaper. Not sign Dougie (who will get more than 3 years anyways) and bring in a cheaper RD.
