Not a bad deal for Detroit. I wonder how Nashville fans view it.

Honestly I feel like it's the type of deal Yzerman would do

That’s a terrible deal for Caps. Kuzy has had some weird off ice stuff but he’s still a productive player. Preds aren’t moving Duchene without some big assets attached to him for someone to take on that contract. And wouldn’t be to a contending team tight on cap space

I’d love to have Askarov but I don’t see Nashville trading him nor do I think this is sufficient value for them.

Saros is one of the leagues best at age 26, they only took askarov in draft because he was best player available and fell to them. He’s a huge trade piece if they decide to move him

One produces and one doesn’t. So one is worth the money while the other isn’t.

You nailed it he is a huge trade piece, so why is Nashville adding so much to this trade. Kunin is a big part of Nashville's plans and will be one of the few forwards they protect in the expansion draft. that first although in the second half of the first round is still a pick Nash needs if we're gonna rebuild or retool.

I also don't see Nashville moving Askarov until he comes over and plays in the NHL and we see what he's got. Why should Nashville give up a goalie prospect who's been compared to some of the most elite goaltenders in the past few decades for anything less than what you would ask for a starting goaltender. Breaking down the pick as taking the best player available makes it seem like they don't want him. He was the best player available yes, but he's also a big part of Nashville's future now. Why shouldn't they hold out and trade Saros in the future if Askarov comes over and makes an immediate impact.

Long story short, Askarov is untouchable unless the offer is too good to refuse or they're including him as a part of a package for a franchise player.

Saros is already that and more. The guy is an unbelievable goalie, Nashville is still good enough to win now. Why would you not trade a prospect goalie that has never played yet in NA, why would they wait. I get it he can be as good as you say, but Saros is everything any team could ever need. He was outstanding in regular season, he stole them games in the post season, but you’d rather wait for this Russian goalie that they never even planned on taking in the draft. This team is ready to win with what they have, and when you are ready, you give up big prospects to make your current team even better.

One produced in the post season (Duchene) and one didn’t (Kuzy) it’s a change of scenery for 2 guys not on the greatest contracts. Maybe Nashville has to add a3rd

With everything you're saying I still don't get why Nashville is giving up the better pieces and more of them in this trade. Saros is great yeah, but leveraging our future should mean picking up guys who improve the lineup. Nashville might be able to win now, but not with these moves and either way I think if Nashville is trading Askarov they can get a better deal somewhere else for better impact players.

Then sure. Do that move instead. I just thought an askarov for bertuzzi swap will be the base of the trade both teams walk away happy. Whatever you wanna add or subtract.. be my guest

I don't think that's a good base, I suppose that's what I'm getting at. Bertuzzi isn't worth that price to Nashville, because he's not that big of an upgrade over Kunin who's younger and has the potential to be as good as Bertuzzi.

Rasmussen is the more interesting piece if I'm Nashville, but in no way, shape, or form will any trade start with Askarov unless its an overpay.
