Winnipeg takes that deal, but why wouldn't someone outbid them for an extended Hamilton?

See, I think Winnipeg's deal will likely be the best one on the table outside of Carolina's own bid. They've never signed a big UFA before, so they likely want a high early bid to lock him in ASAP. Also, I don't think that a lot of the other contenders have the cap room to fit Hamilton outside of Boston, who need forwards, not defensemen.

It would be nice if you are right. Although if Hamilton is willing to sign in Winnipeg for that, I'd rather the Jets just sign him for 7 years and keep the first. Unless you're assuming Hamilton insists on 8.

Also hasn’t he said he wants a smaller market contender team? I’d imagine the Jets fit that bill, and could offer the best deal. If that deal you proposed was on the table, Id hope Winnipeg would accept.

I have Winnipeg and Carolina as the two favorites for Dougie. I actually think that Dougie, in the end, sticks around here at around a 6x8 or a 7x7.5, aka. a small contender's discount.

If he wanted to stay there for that, I’d completely get it and respect it. Id prefer to see the Jets give him like a 7x8.5 over 8 years. Do you think hamilton can be a good top pairing guy away from CAR? That’s my only concern, cause he wouldn’t have a Slavin here. But Morrissey is better than Skjei.

Morrissey can work well with Dougie if he reverts to more of a stay-at-home defensive guy, kind of like how Skjei adapted into a similar style when he was paired with Pesce. He was still quite effective, at least statistically, while paired with guys like Brodie in Calgary.

Oilers don't give you a first in a deep draft for a guy with 1 year left on an average (not a great bargain) deal.

The way Nino has played this year next to Trocheck and Necas, very good offensive players but not exactly McDavid by any stretch, his deal certainly is a bargain. Put him next to McDavid or Draisaitl and his output would explode.

It might explode, but he has one year left. If he does explode he becomes too expensive, so then its a 1st for a rental.

Not a big OEL fan, but the rest of the Mock looks good to me. The values might be a bit Canes favored though

Canes are giving up more assets than teams are giving away, however. On net, it's mostly firsts in for firsts out, with depth prospects dealt to MN and Skjei (good defenseman and isn't negative value) to AZ.

Morrissey did the exact same thing with trouba. Played a responsible defensive style. Good to know that could work well with dougie.

Dougie was really good even before he went to Carolina, he would also allow Jmo to return to a safe style of game that he is more suited for. Being the one to break the puck out of the zone and be the catalyst in counter attack offence has never been his game and it has shown in the past couple of years. Dougie is about a perfect fit available as their has ever been for the jets honestly

Totally agree. I hope the Jets can get dougie. But chevy is patient and likely won’t want to pay over 8.5 million.

I love Dumba but that trade does not get you Dumba. Rees Suzuki and 2nd round pick will get you Dumba. Works out well for both teams. Dumba potentially replaces Hamilton (assuming dougie leaves) and MIN gets 2 good center prospects.
