Why are the Oilers giving up assets for a 38 year old cap dump?

Your free agency signings are solid but your trades probably aren't gonna happen. You're giving up too much for Duncan Keith even though you're getting rid of James Neal. You probably won't get anyone willing to take on Mikko Koskinen without attaching a sweetener to him and the value in the Debrusk trade isn't enough to convince Boston to accept the deal. And then finally, Don't give up a first rounder for Merzilikins. He's a solid goalie but he's a UFA next year and it's too much of a risk giving up a first rounder for a rental when you could sign a guy like Chris Driedger, Linus Ullmark, or Petr Mrazek.

Pass on Wennberg there’s a reason that the Jackets bought him out
First he’s not a fit as he’s a left shot centre with a career 46% in the dot
Secondly it looks like he had a bounce back yr on a very good Panthers team then you look at his career shooting % 9.8 which is inflated by the 20.7 he had this yr
He had a career one off and this guys going to crash back to earth and be the player he was in Columbus, any team wiling to sign him to a 4X4 deal will be putting themselves in cap hell for next 4 yrs

Why would Boston consider that? They’ll just keep Debrusk before they’d do that.

hard pass by the hawks. Try adding your 1st if you want us to take Neal. Kieth doesn't have negative value
