not with that back surgery he had this season thats something that will be weighing in on Gm's minds especially in negotiations

He will get a 1st for sure but not a top prospect. Might get 2 B prospects if lucky but with that injury his value dropped a bit as there is 0 guarantee he comes back and is the same guy. Then you get the after math of back surgery in which it can be a distraction for the player and could reaggravate at any point. Remember Gardiner when he had back surgery. Flared up twice once with leafs and once with Carolina and its now =made it where Carolina probs gonna buy him out only after 2 years.

He's barely a 50 point guy..... talk about over valuing your players.

Well then Detroit doesn’t need to trade him.

No from the Oilers. Not interested in trading Broberg once he's finally ready to start pushing for a roster spot (although I think a year in the AHL would be better for him). A 1st would be on the table but guys like Broberg and Bouchard are not.

I think this years first would be out as well I could see a 2022 1st and a player like Markus Niemelainen as a starting offer

How about a package center around Bean and Foegele from the Canes before expansion?

And that's why Bertuzzi isn't getting traded imo. There's a huge gap in the valuation wings fans have of him (and I would assume the organization too) and the valuations the rest of the league has. If Yzerman even brought up Sandin's name in talks for Bertuzzi I'd hang up right away

Mantha has some of the best possession numbers we've ever seen so, not really no, but indeed the Panik thing was ridiculous and problematic for sure

Coincidentally with Panik doing that well too

Maaaaaybe the league needs to become more respectful of analytics and in a big way idk just throwing that out there 🙄😒😑

I feel like that's a key here is how much better a prospect Bouchard is and how relatively limited Broberg is (1D potential and 2D potential)

With Bertz RFA at least makes a broberg swap valid

I dunno if it's quite ideal given everything but hey

I look at the Kapanen trade as a similar value of return for Bertuzzi.

Just from the cap perspective, the Oilers are relying on ELCs to come into the lineup that can play and Broberg is likely one of the guys that will come in over the next year or two and could potentially move the needle on the cheap. The Oiler really didn't do themselves favours with the Keith trade in terms of cap but I believe the plan is to have Broberg or Samourukov mentor as a 3rd pairing D behind Keith and Nurse for the next 2 years and hopefully develop into a top 4D.

Bringing in Bertuzzi fills a need (at a high acquisition cost) but rips open a huge hole in the defensive prospect pipeline. Bertuzzi won't be cheap, you could possible find similar value on the UFA market (I've wanted to see Hoffman line up with McDavid) or get a winger at a lower cost like one of the Tampa guys while they dump cap.

Its funny because in my opinion Leafs fans are doing exactly that, I get that Sandin is a very highly touted prospect, but I dont see why you would "hang up" Bertuzzi is well more established, playing over 200 games and being just shy a 50 point guy on a far worse team. I get if you dont want to make the trade but its far from "hang up on you"

From 2018 to current the Wings are dead last in GF (491) but yeah barely 50 points on a team dead last in GF, good job. For reference Toronto has 709 which is a 44.3% increase. I think it’s fair to say he would pick up more apples playing for another team.

No way Leafs trade future top pair D-Man for someone who just had back surgery. Even fully healthy, Bertuzzi isn’t worth Sandin.
