Description
change of scenery for Larkin. I know this almost certainly won't happen, but larkin is a top C with game breaking ability that the Wild need, on a smaller cap hit for 2 years. He was in trade rumors a year or two ago. Zadina also needs a change of scenery. He just hasnt worked out in DET and hes on an expiring RFA deal.

You know, Larkin and Fiala in this trade aren't that big of problems. it's the addition of Zadina.

It's like DET offering you a swap between Bertuzzi and Fiala, but with the demand you add Rossi to the exchange.

Rossi and Fiala for Larkin and Zadina. Detroit would have to add right?

You'd get different answers from which fanbase you ask. I'd probably take the Detroit package. Fiala's not under contract and is expecting to get overpaid, and Rossi hasn't played a game yet. Larkin has a fair contract, plays premium position, and Zadina has an immense upside.

Makes sense, thanks for the opinion

I think a larkin fiala deal is a good base value wise but detroit is in probably more need of centers than Minnesota is. Minny atleast has Rossi on the horizon but detroit doesn't have anything at center even close to him. It would be like detroit trading vrana for Ericsson ek

I don't think 21 year old top prospects can be labeled as not working out yet. He's contributing at the nhl level and improving. No change of scenery needed.

I think Larkin is above fiala, and I really like fiala.

Detroit passes, Not giving up both Larkin and Zadina for that. Add Rossi and it's a bit closer.

Larkin is Detroit's only Top 6 center. They don't have a prospect that projects at that position anywhere in the system, so Larkin is basically untouchable unless they decide to go nuclear.
If Detroit was to go nuclear though, a mid-late 20s winger is not going to be very high on the desired trade returns list. Fiala is not a good trade base for Larkin, in my opinion.

On another note, in what universe does 21 year old Zadina, who just completed his first full NHL season (minus a few games due to injury), need a change of scenery? He hasn't even had time to adjust to the scenery where he was drafted!

Zadina has played parts of 3 SEASONS.. he’s already been linked to trade rumors in the past. I added a 1st round pick in the trade and probably should have had a 2nd or 3rd in there too.. also forgot to mention that I put the wrong Johansson in there for the trade. Meant it to be Filip Johansson. I really don’t see how this is too far off. Zadina is not an established star who has already been linked to trades in the past and is not producing like a top 10 pick that he is. Expecting Rossi in return is pretty crazy. I could see adding a 2nd or 3rd in the deal to persuade them to take Rasks contract. And again like I said in the description lol “this almost certainly won’t happen”

Zadina has played 86 games in those "3 SEASONS" with 9 games, 28 games, and 49 games respectively in those seasons. That's not a lot of games by any stretch of the imagination, especially for a kid WHO IS 21 YEARS OLD. Not every prospect jumps straight from juniors to the AHL and starts producing at a "superstar pace."
Trade rumors? You mean this? https://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/nhl/red-wings/2019/11/07/mcguire-dont-surprised-if-steve-yzerman-trades-filip-zadina/2516965001/ This isn't a trade rumor, this is a clown trying to have a relevant opinion. It doesn't even imply that Detroit has any sort of intention to shop Zadina, let alone trade him. If you have a legitimate source, I'm all ears.
Producing like a Top 10 pick? He's 7th in games played and 6th in points for his draft class. https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/draft/nhl2018e.html He was drafted 6th overall. What are you comparing him to? Statistically, he's producing as a Top 10 pick should be.
Who mentioned expecting Rossi in a trade? Considering both teams' relative lack of center depth, Minnesota offering Rossi and Detroit expecting Rossi would be insane to say the least.

Zadina hasn't been struggling by any stretch of the imagination. Detroit's game plan this season was defense at all costs. Everybody's offensive totals regressed. Zadina's defensive game was monumentally better this season, and he showed great chemistry with Vrana and Larkin. Detroit would be stupid to trade him at this point.
