No, id be disappointed with that return. cap dump, B prospect, a dman they dont need, and a goalie they definitely dont need. Its not about quantity its about common sense. The Sabres only need forwards

You're one of the more sane & rational Sabres fans on CapFriendly, so I'm curious what your opinion would be. If you're the Sabres GM, what kind of assets are you looking for in an Eichel trade?

Okay I agree that doesn’t get it done, but to suggest Strome at $4.5 mil for 1 year is a cap dumb is ignorant.

Then you’d never get him
It’s should be quite obvious by now that Buffalo is not gonna “sell low”

Acting like you KNOW what the return is gonna be is arrogant and ridiculous
What did u think we’d get for Ristolainen??
Just curious, since u seem to KNOW what we’ll get for Eichel

Hes not a part of Buffalos future and is only in the deal to help NYR facilitate Eichels cap, thats one of the definitions of a cap dump.

Pretty sure if you flip him at the deadline at 50% he’s getting a 2nd and a prospect, but that’s your prerogative. Still hoping the Rangers don’t trade for Eichel. Not risking the assets for a guy whose neck may never be the same. And you can’t definitively tell me otherwise cause just like me you haven’t seen his medical records either. This is a legit toss us of him returning to form or this neck becoming a lingering issue.

His value drops when playing for a tanking Sabres and not having Panarin. Eichels medical condition is blown out of control on this site. Friedman interviewed a specialist on the surgery and its worth the listen

Surgery on the neck is still surgery on the neck. I wouldn’t trade for anyone who had surgery on their neck. Anything could go wrong. Like I mentioned he could easily get back to form, but he could also not. I don’t want to take that chance and surrender assets for something that isn’t so unpredictable.

Its extremely predictable. The risk is significantly low. When did everyone get so hypochondriac

YOU DON'T NEED A GOALIE?!?!? Your duo of stiffs rivals the 7-10 split of Edmonton's pylons for Tandem Most Likely to be Mistaken for Bowling Pins.

Cause hockey is a fast paced game where people get hit. You kinda need your neck to be at 100% to stay safe. I’d say it’s pretty important.

They do have 2 decent goalie prospects, but they won’t be NHL ready for a while, so they definitely need someone capable to hold it down right now. If they do plan on having Anderson and Dell as their 2 goalies, that tells you all you need to know about their intentions this year….

"It's extremely predictable"? Even Eichel's own agents concede it's never been performed on a hockey player before.

Look, I 'm hoping just as much as every diehard Buffalo fan that he makes a full and complete recovery and records 100 points in 2022-2023. @HOCKEYBOY448 and I just look at this from a risk management perspective. I've said many times before that I think any Eichel trade prior to his appearing in at least 41 games is premature, or at least imprudent. If some actual GM is willing to take that risk, then my hat's off to him when he proves to be right. But I think that the best first rule for hockey gm's should be the same as for doctors: First, do no harm.

Thank you. People act like we don’t want him to do well. I’d love to see him light up the league with 40-50 goals and 100 plus points because it’ll make the game more entertaining to watch, but neck surgery is serious no matter how you look at it.

If I was Buffalo I'd trade 2 1sts and No NEichel for the old Jack Eichel. Then again, I'm not sure why the Buffalos of the league would want high end stars, it's usually a dead end road. Better off going with depth.

The value in Strome for BUF is as a trade chip come TDL...if you think his value is entirely tied to him playing with Pan- then obviously you're not going to like the value he puts into an Eichel trade. But if you believe his career has turned a corner- and even away from AP is a productive player then there should be a real strong market for him...a 2022 1st and then some in return. Having seen him play w/o Panarin a few weeks this past season I think he could be a real good middle 6 C for a playoff bound team looking to improve their C position...and there will probably be several teams looking to make this sort of upgrade for their playoff push and beyond.

to hear what did u think we’d get for Ristolainen??

Since u clearly KNOW what we will or won’t get for Jack,
I’m just wondering why u didn’t let us know we’d get such a good return for him???
