im genuinly starting to get concerned that people dont actually know how good mitch marner is at this whole hockey thing.

Leafs wouldnt take that arizona trade if rielly wasnt even included.

Like if you combined both Dvorak and Chychrun together they are not as good as Marner is.
hes a top 5 in nhl scoring winger with some of the best defensive numbers that exist in the game right now. Easily top 15 in defensive ability and top 5 in offensive ability.
And hes only 24. Which means hes only gonna get better.

100 percent get it but Pastrnak is a free agent next year and I think Chychrun Dvorak and Pastrnak is a million times better than Marner. Would have loved to trade Mathews to Arizona but they don't have the assets to trade for him.

Im not about to stand here and say i think you are wrong about them being better because well i agree with you on that point have to be dumb not to

but there is no way pasta comes up north for anything less than 11 million right now.

and frankly i would rather just have the devil i know, than trade away 2 of the leafs better players for a chance at a guy who likely wont even sign here.

I was thinking the same. I think that the trade is more than fair.

Not by a whole bunch, however they have 10 mil in cap space to sign someone like Pastrnak. Plus the Upcoming defensemen would be great: Dvorak, Sandin, Liljegren.

they are significantly worse. especially that 2nd line. And i have no idea who you think Hronek is, but he's not a 5 million dollar D man, and he isnt worth close to that in a trade.
And I dont know why people keep thinking players like Pastrnak are going to go to new teams as UFA, this has literally happened once in the cap era with tavares. He will sign with the Bruins. Super stars literally always stay with the team that drafted them except in that one very specific scenario

Doesn’t fill a need for Detroit while Hronek does and also the more valuable position. Hronek + Seider look to fill our top 4 RD spot while Amirov would be Detroit’s third best winger prospect and that’s not even counting Bertuzzi, Vrana, Fabbri, and Zadina on the roster. Detroit’s next RD prospect is Tuomisto in the pipeline so doesn’t make sense to trade Hronek. The only kicker is that it’s Arizona’s first round pick so we’d be banking on a top 10 pick but there’s most likely trade protections further diminishing the value.

Canes pass. Matthew’s is the best player in this deal but I’d rather have Necas and Aho personally.

Canucks decline. Don’t have cap space for the 11 million dollar man. We’ve also given up too many second rounders. Why would we also trade our captain and why would you trade yours?

How much do you think Hronek is worth on a 7 year deal? He’s been .5 PPG since entering the league while playing with scrub partners and on the worst or one of the worst offensive teams since so .5 PPG is an accomplishment. I’m not saying he’s Werenski/Jones/Makar etc who just signed for 9M+ but he’s without question worth 5M for that term.

I mean, Makar is already one of the best defenders in the league so he's not a comparable and the Werenski and Jones (and Nurse) deals are hilarious over pays, so unless you wanna over pay Hronek i dont see how they are comparable at all.

Like I said, “ I’m not saying he’s Werenski/Jones/Makar” who are being paid 9M+ we’re talking 5M here or roughly half. I provided that as it seems the new market for premiere top end is 9M+ so what do you pay those 2-3D guys? I asked for your comps since you’re the one saying he’s not worth 5M on a 7 year deal.

Detroit is not trading away a player that's been de facto their top defender for two years now when we have no replacement for him.

Detroit passes, we're not trading Hronek without another top 4 RHD coming back in the deal. Amirov no thanks we're basically set LW for the foreseeable future.

You obviously have no idea who Hronek is. But hey if you're going to be consistent, why not be consistently wrong.

I’m still waiting for that Hronek comp. Just like how you dodged my Bertuzzi comment a few days ago. Seems like you call players as middling but can’t back it with any support, strong argument.

Yeah look at you masquerading as someone who knows things about hockey. You say things on here that go against common logic and then you refuse to support them, Instead you try to wear people down with your uninformed/unsupported comments until they get tired of you and quit. That doesn't make you smart or persuasive it just makes you annoying, And I know I'm not alone in this sentiment as I have seen countless other people have the same reaction to you and your "tactics".
