That is an absolute massive overpay for Monahan and why would you trade Marner for a guy who never shows up for the playoffs?

Imagine trading Marner, eating 2 million on his cap for multiple years, and then burning 5 million on Sean Monahan. Sean Monahan. Lol, dreadful.

The Marner trade you would have to add 3 first and 2nd rounders as well. He's 5 times the player as Gaudreau. Marner has had 2 bad playoffs in a row. What the leafs need to do is the last 20 games of the season, he doesn't play the pk so he's fresh for the playoffs.

Looking for guys who do something in the playoffs certainly doesn't start in Calgary.

Exactly Johnny hockey has never performed in the playoffs. If they don't burn Marner out in the regular season he'll perform in the playoffs. When he is on the pk he doesn't play it like other forwards. Once he gets the puck he's thinking offence and skates a lot more every shift because of his mindset. You hear reports that he wants to be on the pk and that's fine until the 62 game mark. Matthews, Tavares and Nylander don't play the pk and have way less ice time come the end of the season.

He wasn't burned out, he got in his own way
