Yeah and? It's an awful contract that costs actual dollars and he isnt useful or needed to the leafs. You wanna throw in a cap dump to a team with low cap space you're gonna pay for it

Did you see the price for Rasmus Ristolainen for a defenceman with 1 year left? ... Rielly is way better than him so the bare minimum return is a 1st, 2nd, and either a quality prospect or borderline NHL player (which Bellows wouldn't be in Toronto so he's of no use). Plus you're adding in a bad contract that you want off your hands and you expect Toronto to retain? That only drives the price up more.

A Rielly deal would likely come with him signing an extension as part of it which would put his trade value up around Seth Jones'. This offer is no where near good enough for a contending team to even consider.

But the part where Craig Button picked Yanni Gourde on his team Canada is 100% real.

I wouldn't mind doing this from a Leafs point of view. Getting a 1st for renting out Rielly is worthwhile, the prospect in Bellows just makes it even better. The concern I have for them though is from a depth point of view for defenseman. I'd like to get a depth piece back as well in case of injuries. Someone like that Sebastian Aho you have sitting in the press box.

Last time I checked bellows and a 1st would be enough for a deadline pickup of morgan Reilly.. if not the leafs probably lose him for nothing after the season.

Imagine you are on a terrible team so you take a paycut so that the GM can bring in some talent so that you can become a good team.. then your new hotshot GM overpays 3 players hot off there ELC... would you demand what hamilton, jones, and makar got? Because toronto can't afford that

yeah, that was never the deadline price for Rielly, and if anything he's gotten more expensive in this market.
also no, there are not three over paid leafs players no matter how many times people on the internet tell you so.

There are absolutely 3 overpaid leafs named matthews, marner, and nylander (not so much nylander compared to the others)

marner at most is overpaid a million, matthews and nylander are both signed to below market value, the internet is lying to you

if thats your logic, the value of rielly would be two 1sts and an A prospect

matthews just won the rocket with one wrist, nylander was amazing this year in a secondary role playing at a 67 point pace, and scoring 5 goals in 7 games in the playoffs, youre going off of old tired narratives that you would know were proven wrong years ago if you actually paid attention
